I just put a new Yamaha belt on my 02 SRX and it squeals so bad I cant take it. I have to shut it off the split second I come to a stop. Can I shim that out with the secondary? If so How?

Try washing the belt in mild dish soap and a scrub pad. Belts have a protective coating for fungis that needs to be removed. Run a search on adjusting belt deflection and cleaning clutches. There is a world of info on clutches here. There are 3 small bolts on back side of secondary to do the adjustments, add or remove washers as needed.. But read up on everything first.

New belts are wider, thus they sit higher in the secondary and effectively run tighter than a worn out belt. Make sure your center to center and deflection are within spec, clean your clutches good with hot soapy water, and then remove washers on the three 10mm bolts on the back of the secondary as needed.

well Yamaholic said it almost word for word what I was gonna say.
Clean the clutches and belt really good. I use a scotchbrite pad to clean with hot soapy water and it works well. Check clutch alignment.
