Make shure you replace the lower oil seal on the chain side..(track drive)

would you be able to get the seal from a bearing supply joint?

it is time consuming but fairly easy.... i like to get a couple of old coffee cans to throw my bolts in just to make sure i don't lose any! i have done 2 of them now both '96 xt600's and one on an '89 exciter ..... try puttting a rachet strap on your back bar and hook it to a cieling joice, that makes the raising and lowering a lot easier and a lot more controled!

thanks guys, ive done older sleds before but that was years ago. if i have any problems reassembling i will yell.more worried about the reverse than anything since this is the first sled ive ever had that had it.hopefully if i follow the manual everything will work out fine.hope the weather holds up for the snow cross races this weekend.a warming spell is suppose to be on the way, hopefully lake superior will mess that piece of bad news up.

hey guys ,am i to assume that the bearing carrier nut on the left side of the sled that has the speedo cable drive sticking out of it ,you can just pull that cable out ?i was trying to put a socket on the nut ,but the cable is too long unless i use a deep socket which i would have to buy.does that cable just pull out?

What kind of track are you putting on.

yes just pull the cable out, the reverse doesn't have any effect on the job as long as the shaft doesn't pull apart when you pull the cover off. Other than that its a cakewalk. I did mine last week in just under 2 hrs with no help. I put a 136" camoplast .6 from a newer cat on my 95 600dx. Good luck
