How many miles til i can squeez on it?

When I say about the initial break in bringing it up to 7000 and down to 2000, its WITHOUT A BELT on the motor.. You don't want to torque everything up with a belt on it and you don't want to spin a track just yet!!!! you want to get the motor spinning without bearing too much load on it either way.. The clutch and flyweights is QUITE enough weight to be pulling through!!!!
 
I see these grass guys jacking their sleds up and spinning the track 100 miles an hour... and their IDIOT pit guys standing right behind it.. ARE THEY NUTS or something???? I don't get it...
 
Even lots of car manufacturers are now using Syn right off the hop. All the new Vette engine come with Syn from the factory! I don't know about others, but new 2-stroke Cats come with Syn oil now from the factory too.
 
retorque whatever you took apart and whatever bolts and nuts you can get to.. there are usually a few of them you cant get to anymore,but,,try and retorque everything you took apart!!!! Retorque it when WARM,,,,NOT Hot the FIRST TIME!!!
 
I looked at that guys website and only read about halfway down... YOU DONT want to jump on the sled and drive it "like you stole it" just yet!!! a good rule of thumb is to use BALLHONES!!!!! Dont use that old cylinder hone (3 stone) that has been around since your GRANDPA!!!!! Them hones were junk 40 years ago!!!!! OMNIDIRECTIONAL SURFACES!!!!!! Remember that word OMNIDIRECTIONAL!!!!! Read the cylinder hone package and THROW the hone AWAY after you do your cylinders!!!!! DONT SAVE IT FOR NEXT TIME!!!!! The flex ball hones are CHEAP!!!! Gary Oles nosboy
 
RACECAR 4 STROKE motors are COMPLETELY different.. if I did that break in procedure to my 440 BIGBLOCK,, I would destroy the motor!!!! I break that motor in as HARD AS I could possibly break it in!!!! I WANT A LOT of clearance and I want those piston skirts to be EATEN ALIVE by the HONING JOB!!!! TIGHT RACECAR motors run like CRAP!!!! LOOSE AS A GOOSE for my bigblock!!!! I start my racecar motor and it has 100 psi oil pressure at idle and IT SCARES ME!!!!! LOOK at all that horsepower I am loosing by trying to SQUeEze ALL THAT OIL THROUGH THOSE small TOLERENCES!!!! bad news!!!! I ALSO USE A bigtime WEIGHT OIL TO BREAK IN AND i do not use synthetics because i want THAT MOTOR TO WEAR IN real hard AND get real loose RIGHT AWAY!!!! i MAKE AN EASY PASS, DROP THE OIL,,,MAKE 2 EASY PASSES,,, THROW IN THE SYNTHETIC,,, AND hopefully (it'll never happen) RACE ALL YEAR without loosing a few rods!!! Nosboy, now I’m a lot more confused because I asked several people this question and I got different opinions, some are experts and some are knowledgeable in the trade…Now this said, I have experience in the engine (auto) field. Although it was sometime ago, I do recall some of the stuff my boss taught me…The last thing I want to do is give someone incorrect info and have someome blow an engine and you were the only one I did not ask through a p.m. So after reading all your post and now understanding it more it makes sense. The advice I gave was inaccurate and I apologize to all. But I thank all as I just learned that there are differences of opinion and that experience, matters…Mike

Nosboy, could you ask MrSled to post a small write up about break ins,. as there seems to be alot of T.yers doing re-ring jobs and it might clear up alot of confusion. As I enjoy your write ups and value your opinio...thnks

As for yamalube everyone sez its junk, but my old 97 sx had 11000km or around 7000mi and it only was run with yamalube and I beet the crap out of it, before i sold it the compression was 127+/- 1 or 2 across the board, the motor was never rebuilt original rings.

But that being said I run intercepter in my viper. |If yamalube was so bad why would Yamaha sell it. One really cold day last year I opened a jug of shell syn oil, to use and it was thick like malasis, and my yamalube 2R was still very thin so that shell ended up in the garbage.

Tom doesn't like me too well because I called one of his supporters out on their STUFF and pissed him off.. It's a money thing to tom, He makes his living through this website... enough said,it wouldn't be a smart idea to write break-in procedures because the industry ALSO DEPENDS on IDIOTS breaking their brand new stuff and having to do it the right way!!!! Just about EVERY TIME I replace slides, I usually screw one up and have to throw it away!!!! For some reason,,, I just have a hard time with slides!!!! YAMALUBE is manufactured by a VENEZUELAN owned company called CITGO.... Yamalube meets or exceeds TCW-3 and JASO specs... we could go into tc and jaso but lets just say that ANY 2 STROKE oil on the market that has the jaso or tcw-3 spec WILL WORK FINE.. Yamaha requires jaso spec (japanese spec). ANY JASO spec oil will work.. Thee is a law called the magnuson (something like that) order that says YOU COULD USE ANY OIL that you want PROVIDING it meets that certain spec determined by the MFG!!! If there EVER IS a manufacturer that says that YOU HAVE TO USE THEIR OIL... THEY MUST PROVIDE IT TO YOU FOR FREE!!!!! I think Rolls Royce did it for a few years and maybe Jaguar too,, but,,,, IF AN OIL " MEETS OR EXCEEDS" tcw-3 or jaso spec (spec'd by Yamaha") IT WILL WORK FINE!!!! ANY BRAND... It just REALLY RILES me why people buy YAMALUBE !!!! I gotta go to work right now and I DO NOT want to get into the politics of it with you guys..... Remember VENEZUELA????? Enough said!!!
