I hit a tree this week with my 96 Vmax going about 40 mph and I bent the frame mounting piece that holds the pogo shock back about 4 inches (also mild concussion and seperated shoulder) I was just wondering if that is a bolted on brace connecting to the frame or is it welded?
Has anybody else out there had to do a similar repair?
I am still layed up so cant really get a good look at how that portion of the suspension is mounted.
Vmax is one tough sled, when I came to it was still running and was able to ride it back to trailer. That was a fun 15 miles.

Well, From looking at a picture online of the parts breakdown, the front member that holds the whole front suspension is a part of the complete front frame section(bulkhead?). From the pricing online it looks as if Yamaha wants $1600+ for what they call a complete frame. You may want to look to a salvage yard for parts if you don't have insurance.

It would be easier to straighten what you got instead of replacing it. I have fixed alot of those tunnels I am a bodyman by trade so it was pretty easy for me. Even if you strip the ft plastic off and take it to a body shop it shouldn't cost that much the hardest thing about straightening the bulkhead is how to tie it down so you don,t damage the rear tunnel because it is weaker than the bulkhead. You can heat the steel if you need to. They are a round frame so it will take some pulling power to get it back in shape. If you send some picks I can explain how I would go about fixing if you are going repair your self.

Thanks for the responses guys, hard to type one handed but I will strip down and take to body shop unless somebody has a better plan than Total Rec.
