Shaving heads 1997 V-MAX 500 XT

Im the current owner of a 97 V-max 500. So far Ive added a ripsaw track, MBRP race silencer, reed stoper notch, reed spacers, geared down 2 teeth V-max Johns clutch set up with carbon tech reeds an two air box valves. Now im getting the heads shaved. I read hear before to shave them 8 thou and split the head gasket. I was wondering about jetting and mabie some minor porting? Can you port the heads yourself if so how? Im currently runing stock jets. Im really not sure about shaving heads or porting. I do know that the few mods I did I had great results. I ride anywhere from 0-4000 feet. Thanks for all the help.

go to parts section there is a head already shaved for a 500 twin, You will have to rejet

will I have to jet up or down? I looked but cant find out how much I need to shave off. I want to do the head gasket mod as well. Please help.
