-Ohlin shocks
-bender can
-bender roller rooster clutch kit
-bender transfer rods
-192 picks

Big jump for me as im a die hard cat rider but always loved the sound of the srx especially with the bender can, and of course the speed.... so just wanted to say hello and tell me what ya think of my buy.. have about 2 hours into the pipes polishing and since the pics they are even more shiny...

Welcome Jag you found the best Yami info site around & cant blame you for falling for the sound of the SRX. You got yourself a nice ride & if you take care of it it will take care of you.

welcome jagz440,
how much you have to pay for that? i have a 2002 SRX I will tell you this and many other people with SRX's will tell you the same. Its a good idea to put the stock can back on the SRX. I know it sounds good with the can on but you lose HP and top end. I have a stock can and will never buy aftermarket. I have an extra if interested.

i have a brand new take off can that came with the sled... i know it may gain some mph.... but for all intents and puproses it will still have tons for me... im coming of a 440... thanks tho if i ever run radar ill keep the stocker in mind

also i paid $3800canadian... which is below average price for a srx around here, it came with srx cover, new stock can, shop manual, original transfer rods, and a video on how to set up the suspension from yamaha... sled is also VERY clean everything was coated in fogging oil after every season so there is next to no rust on the sled...

Put on the stock can & make sure ur not revving over 8500 rpm.

Welcome to the Blue side! :)
I'm looking into getting an 02-04 Viper, so I've seen prices on all kinds of Yamis recently. Looks like you got a good deal. How many kms on the sled? Private or dealer?

wlecome....nice ride. You will find me on Ontarioconditions as well. If you have questions on Yamaha's this is the place to be.

Nice sled, leave the can on it it your not going to notice those 1-2 hp you lose from it. Plus you love the way it sounds, and you'll still be beating pretty much any other sled out there...If you like it why take it off...Leave it on!

I think im going to leave it on it sounds awsome and my group is all 600s so i still should be far ahead...

sled has 4000km and was a private sale from a HCS member

also toppgunn i have couple quesitons for ya....
-How ya like the C&A's, and expert-x
-where is you billet cap from?

here is my list of mods hopefully to be done before snow hits....
-billet fuel cap
-billet pull cord handle
-C&A skis
-Blue snowflap
-Blue headlight cover
-Rox treads
-new suspension (cash permitting)

Thanks for the comments guys... Just need snow now :letitsnow

With cash permitting on your new suspension wish list, I recommend a good set of up-dated or re-valved viper shocks. It long travels the rear end and they will bolt right in your SRX. Worked liked a dream on a long traveled and tunnel extended SRX I did a few years back.

The can will definately for certain for sure cost 2-3 mph on top end & aid in pissing of land owners & closing trails. Is this what u want????

tom... where could i find a set of those.? or would the easiest be to get a set of vipers and then get the update done..?

Turk- Im well aware of the impact of noise to the trails, however at cruising speed the sled is not loud... it is only more of a crackling... we have a ZRT 600 that we had an MBRP on it and it was the same, can was not even much louder than stock until you opened the valves up then it was very loud that is why we took it off and are in the process of adding another baffle to quiet it down.... I ride either wide open farmers frields or up north in thick bush...and if you ride a sled with a can sensibly it can be tammed so its not obnoixous...and im not some punk that doesnt give a damn about the trails or neighbours... i repect land owners land and the sound and if i dont think i can ride and control the sound of the sled... i will switch back to stock...

and furthermore the main problem effecting our sport is not noise... factors like yahoos running there sleds off the trail on farmers land like fall wheat and causing crop destruction causes Alot of trails to be closed.... given it is a important contributing factor an is why OEM is spending alot of money on noise testing and R&D... it is those who run WFO with stinger or a can through towns that cause noise disturbances... all im trying to get across is that i recoginze your input and if the can is going to be too desruptive and cannot be quiet while slowly driving through areas with homes then it will be taken off.

difference between updated and revalved, viper owners could pay $189 to yamaha and recieve the new updated shocks by giving yamaha their vin # re-valved shocks is just simply sending them in for a softer valving. Im sure there are tons of people on here that will sell you either set of viper shocks.

For the price your gonna pay for the xpert, mrviper on here could port your motor and you would have plenty cash left over for some good shocks and then some.

By then it's too late,,, cops called trails closed!!!!

hey,,I've seen it happen more than once from them damn things.. #$%&*

Hey Jag,

The C&A's offered alot more bite in the corners and float in the powder better than the stock ski's, other than that i notice no other difference besides to add some eye candy.

The Expert, LOVE IT that skid will probably come along to the next sled i end up getting. Nothing i did last year even touched that skid, weight transfer was fun if you crank it all the way up pretty much get the sled to stand straight up and when you crnak it back down shell lift just a little for staying planted in the trails. Ride is awesome everywhere specially when you have a tank of an srx blowing passed rev's and firecats on trail 7 along the railroad tracks up in gaylord when it got a little rough...HAHA

Also I got my cap from PortYamaha awesome place and they are a site sponsor here.

A little rough Rich??????? Come on I think your being a bit genorous with that comment, that trail is always F****D. LOL Nothing but 12in.-24in. bumps for miles on end. But its still fun blowing by all those other sleds. :bash:

Jagz440: I'll tell ya upgrading to Viper suspension parts, your not gunna get the bang for the buck your looking for. I have revalved shocks in my Viper and was riding in the same stuff Topgunn was riding in, WOW what a piss *** ride compared to the Expert. I'm not saying go out and buy a Expert, but if you do upgrade your suspension and dont wanna spend 1800 bucks on a new one. Check out other brands skids on ebay, just becareful what ya buy and make sure you have the capbility to mount that skid in your sled. Cause its not just gunna mount into place with ease.

P.S. Keep an eye out for used Experts on this site, they pop up every once in a while. Range any where from $900-$1200. This is how I got mine cause I didnt wanna pay the extra $$$$$.
