Ready to do it. What do you guys recommend removing first? Using airplane paint stripper. Will that destroy shuff like the seat and belly paint?

Take the seat off of the sled, paint stripper will melt the seat cover.
And anything else not metal. If you don't wanna take the rivets out in the bellypan up by your footwells, get some heat duct tape(its aluminum foil tape) and that will give it some protection.
You'll have better luck with the stripper out of the gallon can, the spray stuff works, but it'll take longer.

where the heck are you guys getting this industrial strength, high toxin, need a hazmat license to even carry it in your car paint stripper? Would like to find some, I think i want to polish up my tunnel.

Look in your local yellow pages under aircraft parts supplier there you should find some good paint stripper.

Does anyone know how to remove the gas tank on an SRX? I got the 2 bolts out near the back but I am not sure what else is holding it.

You don't HAVE to remove the tank if you don't want to, just loosen the bolts in back and stuff something under the tank to get it up off the tunnel. Then you can put a strip of that heating tape around the bottom to protect it.

Thanks for all the advice. Looks like you can get away with leaving everything but the seat on. Just have to be carefull with the stripper.

My local Napa and Auto Value parts stores carry a product called "Aircraft Paint Stripper". It is in a aerosal blue and white can with a picture of a airplane on it. I have used this stuff with pretty good results for years. G.B.
