what kind of oil?

I use the Amsoil Saber at 50:1 with no problems. I also use the same mix in my son's four wheeler, my leaf blower, weed eater and my snowblower.
 
Is any 2 cycle good. Or is there a rating that i should look for? This is a 1974 440 moto ski only 586 miles.LOL Thanks
 
i would use an ester based synthetic like silcolene comp 2 belray H1R or Motul 800. these are expensive though as there some of the best you can buy.
 
I'm a Klotz fan myself. I use it in everything. I wish they had a cologne of it. Even a little in the riding mower doesn't hurt. But it makes me lean off the left side when cornering.

just north of the college on old 27. been here since 1973 when we moved up from Walled Lake. good pike in that lake we'll have to hook up and pull some out of there this winter if we get some ice.
 
WHAT???? AMSOIL???? TRY TORCO. It doesn't smoke and works great. I started using it on my open mod sleds years ago. I never blew up any sleds after I switched. I tried Klotz and Amsoil and others. I use Torco in eveything. Ya get what ya pay for....When you tare down the motors after using this oil, you can see the difference in the lubercation. Everything is coated in oil. I never foiled one plug using this stuff. I gave away my amsoil and klotz. Just my 2cents again. Dean-o
 
SMOKING OIL provides BETTER LUBRICATION than an oil that is advertised that DOESNT SMOKE!!!! PEOPLE just assume that an oil that doesnt smoke is a good oil!!! the MFG even ADVERTISES IT!!!! You see how unintelligent a LOT OF PEOPLE ARE??? ITS A 2 STROKE SNOWMOBILE!!!! IT'S SUPPOSED TO SMOKE!!!! Its like buying a waverunner that DOESNT FLOAT!!!!!! 2 stroke oils USUALLY have a jaso or a tcw or tcw-3 certification.. BUY THESE OILS!!!! there are 2 stroke oils out there that do not meet the specs!!!! Dont waste your money.. NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!!!! You could buy Citgo or Texaco brand for a LOT LESS than YAMALUBE and you'd be getting the EXACT SME OIL from the EXACT SAME VAT!!! Citgo makes yamalube,, along with a DOZEN other brands.. They do not have a MAJIC pill that they throw in when they pump it into those quart or gallon BLACK bottles.. its the same stuff as all the other brands citgo sells!!! SYNTHETIC OILS work FAR BETTER than conventional oils do.. an OIL THAT SMOKES MORE actually LUBRICATES BETTER!!!! I use MOTUL brake fluid in my race car.. dot 5.1 about 8.00 for 1/2 litre!!! compared to 99 cents for dot3!!! YOU DO GET what you pay for.. I use KLOTZ in ALL my 2 stroke stuff!!! great post nosboy some people just dont get it. they swaer by yamaha lube or some other factory recomended oil and dont realize that there just paying for the bottle. your right most all oils come from the same base stock.

with regards to castor oils. some people swear by only certain brands of castor oils yet ive heard from a very reliable source that something like only one barge of castor oil base stock per year enters the US and every brand castor is made from this. only difference is slightly different additives and over all there all very similar.
 
Ive been using this Red Line Oil in my SR292 now for 2 seasons with out any issues. I like it
