Last winter I spun a ring, caught the exhaust port and took out the piston/cylinder/head. I was not planning on replacing any crank bearings or pulling it apart for that matter. What is the best way to flush out the bearings?? I have been spraying them down with carb cleaner and sucking all the stuff out of the bottom. There is definite shavings that glimmer in the light. Should I be able to "hear" the bearings turning?? Is there any normal sound that they make? I think I have at least one bearing that is starting to get eaten by the shavings. Any advice is appreciated.

There's going to be shavings deep in the bearings Dave, the right way would be to pull the motor and and split the case, then you can do a better job of cleaning it,plus you can put new seals in wile you in there.
if not there's a good chance it won't last long, your half way there
keep going..

I "flushed" the grindings out of the bottom end of a zr600 onetime using a shop vac and wd4o, but the rod bearings puked 1400 miles later - probably best to just take care of the bearings now.

I will probably end up pulling the motor. To add insult to injury, I just found a piece of the spider in the primary broken off and rattling around in the clutch...
