It took me the longest time to get the rear skid back in. First I put the front bolts in, then the middle #@$#@ then the most difficult ones to line up the rear bolts. Does someone have any little tricks for intsalling the rear skid. I could really use some pointers.

Thanks

Lift the skid up to the suspended sled or drop the sled down to the stationary skid lossen the bottom bolts on the transfer rods if the holes do not line up.

go to the tech. section on ty home, there is a good write up on this topic....loosen the bottom bolts on you traction control rods or remove the bolts, this takes the rear shock preload off the skid, been there.....CP

The easyest way is to put the sled on its side stick the skid in have a buddy do the bottom bolts as you do the top in the order that you did.

Best way I found as well. Have done it this way by myself but a lot easier with a helper. ;)!

loosen drive shaft bearing set screws
back off the transfer rod lower bolts 3/8in
back off rear idler adjustment all the way, move axle ahead and tighten axle bolts.
put fra adjuster in the soft/upper setting.
lift sled so that the front shaft will just fit under the fram next to the drive shaft
then slide the front into the track so it is headed tward center
now reach through the track and pull the skid tward you while lifting it up and down
lower rear of sled while holding back on skid to pull it behind the drive shaft
now install the front bolts, dont tighten
now go to the rear bolts, lower the sled onto them(two putty knives help to guide it past the inner braces)
install these bolts, dont tighten
now lift the back of the sled, the weight of the suspenion will lift the center/fra shaft into place, you may need to wiggle it a bit to get it up past the rivots(this is the reason for not tightening any bolts and loosening the bearing locks)
now tighten all suspension bolts
lock tight and tighten the bearing set screws
tightening the supsenion first will make sure that the bearing has no side load on it.

deffinetly loosen the tranfer rods, that dont work sit down have a beer and try again . Works for me.

for the rear bolts i put a 2x6 wood across the track and i turn the peace of wood to make pivot the suspention at the right place

for the easiest way for the millionth time. loosen transfer rod bolts, front skid bolts in first, rear bolts next, middle bolts will darn near line themselves up. ski

BINGO! but loosen the bolts on the transfer rods! The rear hing is the problem you have to do the 2x4 thing to get the holes lined up then it is as easy as pie!

I just tried it that way and could not get the middle shaft up in the skid my arm no power!!~front_ middle loose rods till back lined up.My son finds it funny he worked at a dealor and they put the sled on its side.To each there own.

yep very easy on the side, just put a milk crate with a towel between the gas tank and the ground to hold the sled steady, its perfect hight.

I followed the tech write up step by step and the skid really fell into place. I did have my buddy start the bolts while I pulled the skid to where it needed to be.

LOL very well said, i know the first time i put my skid back in, i needed quite a few beers by the end of the install, finally did get it back in though, it was my first time working on a new proaction suspension

I have had mine in and out so many time...eventually you have your own way of doing it. I do it on it's side and a helping hand to thread bolts is always nice. Never have loosened the transfer bolts. I may have to try it, but I never really have to much of a hard time especially if I have the 2 extra hands around..

ive done it so many times and couldnt believe how hard the suspension was to put back in, finally discovered the transfer rod bolts helt the suspension coupled, the best way i have found was to lay the sled on its side, front bolt first, then middle and then the rear, flip the sled on the other side and the rest of the bolts are basically lined up on there own. i have done this atleast 50 times in the past few years and it is by far the easiest i have found.

doing the skid on its side sounds like a big pain in the ,,,,. the ways above mine and the tech can be done by one person with little effort. what i am saying is try it.

i like the above idea of a couple pieces of pvc through the drive lugs to help slide the skid over the lugs. sounds easier than wiggling up and down. ill try that next time.
