Well i managed to shred my track(see pics) on my 2003 mtn viper this weekend so I am going to upgrade to a 151 or maybe 153. I am probably going to put anti ratchet drivers and re-gear at the same time, might as well. I have a couple questions:

1. What pitch is the stock track?
2. How many tooth are the drivers?
3. Should i go to anti ratchet drivers?
4. If i were to go to anti ratchets, do i need a track with all windows open? Clipped?
5. How tall of a lug can i fit? Will a 2.25 clear?
6. Will i need to reclutch it at all? Right now clutch is 100% stock.
7. Is there any other things i should do while i will have the sled apart?
8. What is the stock gearing in the mtn viper? What should i regear to for this track?

I am thinking about doing it myself but have never pulled this much of the sled apart and am a bit nervous about f**king something up. Im sure i will have a ton more questions.

Finally, if anyone has any parts i will need for sale, let me know cuz i am on a budget. Thanks for any help.

This is from 04 Power Launch book:
21T/40T/70L for gearing and chain standard

You will need all window open track, there have been people that use tracks clipped every third window with extros.

As for pitch I believe the norm is 2.52.

Stock drive sprockets are 8 tooth.

Hope this helps. Later, XC

3. Should i go to anti ratchet drivers? Yes!!
4. If i were to go to anti ratchets, do i need a track with all windows open? Clipped? Yes
5. How tall of a lug can i fit? Will a 2.25 clear? I'm not sure with 8 tooth drivers
6. Will i need to reclutch it at all? Right now clutch is 100% stock. shouldn't have to.
7. Is there any other things i should do while i will have the sled apart? check bearings, seals, check for cracks
8. What is the stock gearing in the mtn viper? 22/40 I think? What should i regear to for this track? If you install 20/40 gearing should be good for 2.25. I run 2.00 with 8 tooth, 21/40 gearing and like that set up at 10,000 ft.
You can go to a 151 without extending tunnel no problem
151 2" new take off tracks are very cheap and easy to find.

21/40 is stock gearing.
If you go to 151 or longer......go to a 21/42 gear (same chain) less wear on clutch and belt.
Stay with 8 tooth and 2" track = 2.52 ratio.
I still have the 144 track and love the 21/42 gear in the deep.

Thanks for the info guys. I will probably go with a 2" because they are much easier to come by.

Also, what size is the axle so i know what size drivers to get?
