SRX is a triple cylinder triple pipe, SXR is a triple cylinder single pipe I believe.

Two COMPLETELY different animals. Do a search on the topic, but basically: The srx is made to be a screamer, lake top, straight line, low slung with a short travel suspension for better performance and top speed. 140 horse triple piped, 3D ignition, exhaust powervalves, etc. The sx 700r is a conventional tripple with no powervalves, less high-tech engine. A lot better suspension. Both are EXTREMELY dependable, great on gas and oil, etc. But two very different animals.

I bought a 2001 SXR dropped and rolled, 144" here from Flying Farmer this summer on TY. I'm finally getting her ready to ride and I noticed the decals were different from SRX photo's. Now I know, thanks! I have been riding my '97 V-Max 4 ST since it was bought new and have never bothered looking at other sleds. The SXR should be a great boondocker!

srx took the place of your vmax 4, and the sxr would be like the standard trail sled vmax, just tuned more towards big bump capabilities

I'd hold onto that 97 Vmax4, she's a collector, there were very very few 1997's made and were the best year for the Vmax 4 with the long travel suspension and factory hydraulic brake. I've been told that there were as few as 50 1997 Vmax4s sold in the states.

i know of a brand new 1997 V-Max 4 here in wisconsin. That's right, 0 miles, been stored indoors its entire life. Really is an amazing piece of machinery to look at. The guy has received A LOT of offers to buy, but he doesn't want to sell it.

Somebody on V-Max 4.com told me he knew of 5 vin numbers and mine was the sixth. My '97 is a Mountain Max 136". I never really pursued getting more info. I bought it with 300 miles on her and have taken very good care of it. I might have goofed up by adding quad pipes and shaving the heads and stuff but it sure made it faster.

Let me clarify the rumor. There was supposed to be around 50 '97 V-Max4 121"' sleds made. The V-Max 4.com guy told me that he knew of only 5 long track Mountain Max's made but mine turned out to be a sixth. Maybe somebody here knows for sure or how to find out. I lived out west and rode it for five years there. It was terrible in the deep and steep but I only got beat in straight line drags by heavily modified sleds. It's a heck of a lot faster than me! Mark Young at Cascade Yamaha in Bend, Oregon helped me set it up along with YAMMIEGOD for clutching.
