no way man, that will be about 100x more work than you need to do. Just take the seat and gas tank off and strip and polish away!

Stainless steel 3/16", but you don't need to remove them.reddog mmax 700 said:what type of rivets do i need
No, but if you go up to 1/4" rivets (some of my friends use them on their sleds), you need a bigger rivet gun. Regular rivets guns handle 1/8", 3/16", 3/32" and 5/32" rivets. So a regular rivet gun for $30 will do.reddog mmax 700 said:do i need s special rivet gun
Yes, perfect.reddog mmax 700 said:i have mothers polish will that work?
Make sure to take the seat off to get the whole tunnel, this makes it alot easier/cleaner. Get a buffing pad that you can attach to a drill. Saves a HUGE amount of time.
Cheers.

You DO NOT need to remove rivets. Do as yamaholic suggested and use clean rags and change regularly.
Mothers Mag Crome and Aluminum works great on the tunnel, bumper and pipe.

Rails, cool, gotta see them when you get them done.
I did the tunnel, pipe, bumper and stering arms. It is hard on the hands and arms.
You be able to lift the pints much easier.
