I replaced my old worn reeds with new ones. One of the cages seperated at the rubber boot.
Can you glue it together with something?
Thanks,
mul.

Reed cage
Just replace it, it's not worth the lean burn down...check your motor mounts...a friend of mine had two broken motor mounts and tore a boot to the air box...good luck...

The rubber is still good. It is split apart where the metal flat side meets the rubber.
It looks like there is sort of a ridges molded into the rubber side.
Thanks,

If you haven't got an answer yet... or havent' realized, that is completely normaly by what you are describing. The Intake boot and the metal cage are completely separate parts. Those ridges you are talking about seal the boot and metal together to prevent leaks. They are probably just sucked on to the metal cage from being there so long. They don't come glued to the metal or anything, they are just held on there by the bolts when you tighten everything up.
