I finally bought a Viper! After at least a month of dreaming, searching and bargaining, I now own a Blue 2003 Yamaha SXViper.
I live in Ontario and bought the sled from a great guy in Michigan. He sold it to me for $4000US, but then comes the boarder fees, safety, and taxes. When all is said and done I should be looking at a total cost of $5500 Canadian or $4700US.
This sled has 515 miles on it! It was barely used. I've attached the before pictures, and will post some after my clean up of the sled.
It's bone stock, and came with the shock covers.
I sure hope you guys will be able to help me out with any questions I have in the future!

ill tell you one thing you need to get pretty soon. it doesnt have any snow pre filters in the air induction vents in the cowl. this lets it build ice on the main air filter and it will eventually choke the sled if you play in powder lots.
otherwise looks great!

Thanks guys.
As for the price, I think I got a great deal. Here in Ontario one of these 2003 sleds can't be had for under 6000. Then there's tax on that as well. If there were 4 or 5 thousand miles, I wouldn't have paid as much, but this sled is barely broken in at 515 miles.
I really want the blue skid plate and those blue rod covers for the 4 grey rods(not sure of name for those) someone help me out, and a blue snow flap.
After that I'll be looking at getting 144 studs down the middle. All pretty basic stuff.
I just can't stop going into the garage to look at this beast. It's an incredib;e step up from my 91 Phazer II.

Nice sled!! You will love the Viper!!! I still love mine and ride it even though I have my 06 Apex GT!! I ride the Apex on long trail trips and ride the Viper off trail playing in the powder!!

Nice ride man. The 4 silver rods are radius rods. I don't think you really paid too much either. Looks mint.

Thats alot of money you paid for a stock viper.. Mileage is a plus but I think you could have gotten it for $3500 US
That sled will be 5 years old this summer when the 08's are out!!!!!

Nice Sled, bought one in Michigan in the spring .I bought a skid plate for mine also and ordered the radius rod covers(there running board trim)from Royal. The color is way off from viper blue, and did not fit the bottom radius arm(bigger than top)So I took them off. Just thought I should warn you.Probably will take the arms of them off and paint them instead.Good luck with your purchase,And I hope it snows soon!!
Vipers are timeless, there value will increase in years to come.

It was probalby high in the US, but I've never in my life seen a viper selling for that price in Ontario. Oh, I forgot to metion... the guy delivered it for me as well from Holland, MI. He drove 6 hours and had to deal with the boarder crossing. so 12 hours of driving total... he stayed over night here in Canada. That's quite a bit of gas in the guys truck. Ahh well, if I over paid I over paid. These sleds are becoming fewer and far between... especially with such low mileage.

Nice sled, smoothest 2-stroke engine out there.
It doesn't matter what it is worth to anybody else, it only matters what it is worth to you. If you off-trail a lot, you will want to extend it. In time you may want to upgrade the rear suspension. Leave the engine stock unless you really need more power. Triple pipes really wakes it up, but the stock ignition map isn't really conducive to the added flow. Seat could be softer and bars higher too.
The Viper gets trashed a lot, but it really is a nice sled with a sweet engine. Enjoy it.

You will like it, a mint shape sled is hard to find, maybe u over paid by a few hundred but now that you got it, to you its probably worth a million bucks, i know mine is!
I would deffinitly put a different track on it rather than studding, even with my 1 1/4 the track, my pretty much stock sled is still spinning like mad. Depends how deep your wallet its! Those things you said you wanted to do will deff make it look even sharper! Good luck

Again, don't worry about how others value a sled. If you feel it was a good deal then it was a good deal.
I recently bought a viper as well. Low miles 874, new deluxe cover, 192 studs, extra belt, plugs, mirrors, HC clutch kit and extra set of blubs (blue). I paid more than most people on TY, but I felt the deal was a good one. Heck of alot cheaper than buying a new apex gt. And with the lack of snow, it was a great decision. Don't get me wrong, there's no comparison between the GT and Viper. But $7k was definately a factor in my buying decision.
Enjoy your new Viper.

Last spring I got an almost ditto deal to you. Guy was asking $4700, got it for $4000, 596 miles ,and lots of extras(cover, oil,Garage moving wheels...) Sled stock not touched, no studs, guy bought as a left over so ot was really only 18 months in previous owners hands. This is known true because registration year matches. I think we both did good.
