WARNING... help!.....HC weights came with incorrect setup info for srx
Greetings all. I wanted to perhaps bring to light somthing that has been plaging me, and perhaps many more as well. I purchased hc weights for the srx 2 years ago. after trying every set up that the hc techs offered on the call in line, and the ones written in the book, i was ready to give up. I either had a boggy sled or a over reving sled. nothing worked.
I called yesterday (friday am) one last time to ask the techs at hc what could be wrong. As it turns out a new revelation was brought to my attention. I was made aware by hc, that mid production of the hc in 2004, they changed the actual weight, and sent out weights that were different from the callibrations layed out in the instructions. this would explain a lot of my problems. except for i do not know what weights i have.
this is what i have.
stock srx weights with rivits weigh 52 grams
heel clicker weight supplied (piviting) without screws or washers 48.9 grams
hc told me a 40 10 weighs 56 grams
and the 40 20 weighs 64 grams
NOW IS THAT EMPTY OR WITH SCREW AND WASHERS?
I was further told by them that an srx will not pull weight greater than 65 grams without stalling the clutch.
They told me that here is their recommended set up
red spring button screw with 4 washers in heel(6 grams) 80 deg twist 47 helix
white spring 3 screws in heel 80 deg 47 helix
the problem arrises that the red set up weighs 55.3 grams
if you add a screw in the tip with 2 washers you are up to 60.2 grams
hc told me that the instructions supplied do not corispond to the wieghts supplied.
does this make sense? does this sound right? what should i do?
any help Tony or Turk. would be nice.
ps i now have a 50 36 helix.
Rob
