Re Ringing pistons

My sxr 700 -01 has run about 10000Km's. It's been running with pipes for about 6000Km, Do I have to consider changing rings anytime soon?

Do you like having the piece of mind in knowing that your sled isn't going to break down a long way from home? You are running on borrowed time. Just replace the pistons and rings and enjoy the new power and piece of mind.

Well.. I will change the rings then. Not sure about the pistons, it's rather expensive over here I think.. but I'll check it out! Thank you for your opinions

At least check spec. on 'em

Is there a list on this forum somewhere where they list any recalls. I have a 97 600 xtc!

Hmmm... What do u mean with spec.??

Check the piston diameter at the skirts and see if they are still within the specs in the service manual. Skirts wear the fastest and crush down over time from rocking in the bore with worn rings.

Hmm, there's 2 different sets off piston/rings 8CH5 and 8EA3... why and what's the difference?
