Going to reclutch my buddy's 9250 mile 2000 SXR 700 - he won't peel the head gasket or re-jet because of the mileage (understandable) what clutching should we use for this scenario? Does the 51/43 and stock spring work good without the jetting and compression changes?

Motor is untouched, he put a new primary sping in it last year- anything we should look for while working on it?

Thanks!

if the bushings and rollers were never done I would change them.
The 51/43 will work but I think you will need to change rivets in the weights.

51/43 helix; change inner 3.6 rivet to 4.5 grams. outer allready is 4.5. Sled is jetted pig rich & he should jet down to 142.5,s & drop needles 1/2.

clips

Yes take one of the washers under clip on the needle and put it on top of the clip.

turk or ????

What do people think of jetting down a engine with 9200 miles on it - do you think it will affect reliability?

Thanks,

xs

Sled is pig rich. Don,t make any diff after 50k. If it is rich when new it will be rich at 100k.

Is this a good set up for a 98 sx 700. I am going to bore the silecer, maybe a set of carbon fiber reeds, notch the reed cage, and droping down one tooth on the top gear, and it has a bender clutch kit in it. Don't really want to peel the head gasket, because I don't want to pay the price for premium gas.

My clutch has about 3700 miles on it. What should be done to the clutch for service?

I am also working on getting a hi tech roller secondary. What do you guys think about the hi tech rollers?

5 below is the coldest I ever ran them at. I had a 97 and a 00 that I put over 9000 miles on

The fiche shows that it both are 3.6g rivets - should they both be 4.5 gram rivets? The tech pages says 3.1 tip, 4.5 1st hole - is the 3.6 close enought to the 3.1?

Thanks,

2000 & newer clutching is totally different then 97-99. The weights/rollers/primary spring is all different but the secondary is the same. Can,t use the same specs. On a 99 I used a 3.6 inner; 3.1 outer with a 51/43 helix & it works well.
