I have a 94 vmax 600. The throttle cable is adjusted all the way out of the bracket. The oil cable adjuster is fully closed. Both cables have about 1" of free play at the handlebar. I thought maybe the throttle cable was incorrect so ordered a new one. The new one is exactly the same length as old. Snowmobile runs fine but i know there should not be 1" of free play. Everything appears stock. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ho do I adjust the throttle end play? The cable is adjusted as far out of the bracket (at the carb) as it will go. It almost seems like the cables are to long but I ordered a new throttle cable and same thing.

Your saying it's adj. all the way out and you still have a 1" of free play
at the thumb???

yes the adjuster is all the way out. That is why I thought it was the wrong cable. I am starting to think maybe the handlebars are not correct. It idles fine and runs great. Seems like it is getting the appropriate oil amount. The parts all seem to match the online parts diagrams.

Handle bars could be wrong..

Any idea how tall the stock riser should be? The riser is about 1". Maybe it should be taller? If I'm thinking correctly the routing of the cable could effect this as well?

Ya know thinking about it i don't think that would have a impact on the cable length.

your right, the only variable would be how far the jacket slips into the hole at the thumb and how far you turn the jacket down at the adjustment at the carb. The cable is a certain length. The jacket is used to adjust end play at the handle.

Hmmm..thats funny the only thing i can think of with out seeing it is the
cable is wrong(to long)..
cable is wrong(to long)..

I don't think the cable length matters. The cable length in relation to the plastic jacket is all that matters. So either the hole that the jacket goes in at the thumb is too deep, or the wrong thumb is on there or the cable is still not correct. It is the right cable for the year that the seller told me it was (94), maybe it's not a 94? I can't believe it would change much though. This is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!! At least it runs great! It is my daughters sled so if it is not reaching full throttle because of this no big deal. She doesn't pin it anywho. Probably better that way, she's only 12!!!!

daman, I see you have a 94 600 LE, same as mine. Is there any way I could get you to take a few pictures of where the cable meets the thumb? Specifically I'm looking for how far the cable plastic sheathing goes into the thumb switch. I think this is where the probelm is. Some good closeups of this area would be sweet. No big deal if you can't, it's kind of a pain I know. Thanks
