First off let me say I sent out my primary to CB Perfromance and had both my sheaves replaced and had Bruce use the overdrive sheave. I would just like to say what a great experience it was to deal with those guys I would highly recomend them to anyone. I have all new rollers, www primary spring 8dn-20's with 3.5 in each hole and I just picked up a red primary spring for secondary using a 51-43 helix. I know Im beating this set up to death but if someday we ever get snow ill be stuck with this set up for a couple days on a trip and i need to get as dead nuts on as possible. It also seems there is some different views on the green or red secondary and wrap so please voice your opinions since it will help me tonight when I install the spring. Hopefully I could get an inch or two around home to find engagement and see how it works out. P.s. since I have had both the secondary and primary clutch apart do I need to align the clutches?
 
2 things; I don,t think you have enuff weight in the arms unless that red primary spring is about 105 kg total force.. Run the red at 80 wrap. You gotta do alignment with clutches mounted on the sled.
 
Take a look at this it will give some idea of what is needed to align the clutches...good luck..there is nothing like using the right tool for the job...

Loosen your motor mounts and wiggle your engine around till she lines up...the blue tool does both center to center and offset, I had the gold tool first and it is only an offset tool, but was nice to confirm that the offset is bang on...

Turk how do I know what my sping weight is at? I just picked it up today from woodys yamaha in maine. From now on ill be getting all my parts from the guys on here but I still hadnt picked them up since the end of last season and they had been callin me. I guess if I do need more weight i wont know untill i get out and try it, right.(engagement) I need to do more research so I dont keep asking the same questions youve answered already buy as for the cluches do I need to realign or should I be able to just rebolt them on? THanks guys
 
Probably wont have issues, if the motor was dead on before then it shouldn't have changed but i'd still ask your dealer to use the alignment tool if you dont have one and check to make sure...and test your sled to see where the rpms are at, if they are too high then do as turk said and add weight...probably be looking at close to 51 grams of weight opposed to 49 now..i'm running closed to 50 in my viper with a green helix.
 
Thanks EricMichael I just need some snow to see how it works. This is really starting to become rediculous where on january 6 in Maine its 65* and no sign of cooling down anytime soon. Kinda makes it hard to enjoy your sled. THe ground is so soft right now I cant even go out onto the lawn.

I just wanted to update that I have my cluches on and all I can do at this point is see my engagement is at 3800 and when I do finally get to test it what should I be trying too see?(What will be dead on on total wot?

unreal,im w/you,i live next to biddeford,i put 50 miles on the harley in january and 0 on the sled so far,what a pile of s##t.

It snowed today for 3 minutes and then the sun came out!
 
Yamzilla700, Do you live off RT 196? I used to see your sled parked on a trailer intown on the right heading to Auburn. I lived in Brunswick and would go bye to drop behind the legion at an old factory and ride the river to catch the trails toward NO NAME pond etc... I delt with Woodys on Topsham and they were pretty good to me! I went and watched some races and they know how to set them up! Sorry to hear no snow this rear, I was there in 04 and got alot of riding in! good luck!
 
Bluebullet, I actually am off Wing st. which is off main st. but I take rte. 196 everyday! Unless you were on wing it must of been someone elses sled but you were darn close! It looks like Monday it could go either way snow wise. If the the artic meets the high pressure off shore we will be all hit with snow but no matter what they are saying northern maine will get snow so I should be able to find some.
On the other hand could turk or mrviper chime in and just let me know if 3800 is right for my engagement and if not what should I do to make it run. I hate to be a pest but if I do go riding ill probably have to ride 3-5 hours just to get to snow and Ive had no trial and error. Im just nervous about ruining my trip due to wrong set up. I must be close though. ONce again, www primary, 8dn-20s with 4.5 in each hole, 51/43 helix, red primary at 80 degrees. p.s Im retarded I said earlier in the first post i have 3.5 in each hole on the weights. I actually have 4.5. Sorry for the mix up.

3800 is fine for trail riding. For racing u might need a little higher but for slow speed running & in tight trails 3800 engagement is great.

Thanks turk, will this hurt topend across the lake and also I went to this set up cause my buddy was quicker than me on his 02 mxz 800 not by much but still pisses me off. THis was also only for short distances due to the lakes never froze enough last year really to ride across. I guess I want the best of both worlds. I just want to be as fast as I can!
