I have a 97 700 sx that I bought used it had and still has the holtzman tempa flow installed it has a problem of loading up when coming down from from a high idle and it will act like its only running on 1 cylinder but it will clear itself up, rev up again and load up again. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is I removed the carbs and cleaned them reinstalled them and started the sled back up and it seemed to be worse. does anyone know whats going on I'm beginning to think its an electrical problem. coils going bad or something the head light is nice and bright and they don't dim when brake light comes on or when the hand warmers are on high does anyone know what the pilot jets should be set at. if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them this has been going on for the last 3 years. its a spare sled and we don't use it that much but it would be nice to get it running right. thanks and pray for snow.

sounds like the vent lines are full of fuel. You need to drain the vent lines. Also doesw the idel just hang up or does it fluctuate. Maxdlx

which vent lines are you talking about, the ones on the sides of the carbs? seems to take awhile for it to come down to a normal idle. thanks.

the vent line from your carbs that tees down to go into the tempaflow. if they are mounted wrong, the can get gas stuck in the vent line, causeing your carbs to get a lean reading from the tempaflow.

flows should be mounted with the vents all pointed up or at an angle up, so that when you flip it or ride real rough, the gas that goes up can just run back in the carb and venting continues.

FYI with a tempaflow you should not stop the sled after riding for a while hot, let it sit on the trail say, 10min, then start it and take off wfo, the flow will have warmed up and will lean out the sled, with a flow, you need to give yourself 30sec or so before mashing it after a warm startup. just for safety.

unplug the tors and try it. The high idle and misfire is often the tors kicking in. Does it run fine in the rest of the rpm range?

If it is just hanging up at a high idel, try and blip the choke to see if it comes down. If it does you just need to simply turn your fuel screws out some, say 1/9 to 1/4 turn. If you can unhook the small line from the bottom of the tempa flow, and run it, the tempa flow will be bypassed. Try both the choke and the tempa unplugged and get back. Maxdlx

thanks guys I will let you know how it works out. do you know how many turns out the pilot air screws should be. I'm at 1.5 right now
