Anybody have some suggestions on the best way to apply new decals to my sled. I have heard of using soap and water. Does this actually work?

Liquid dish soap and water in a spray bottle. Use enough soap so that when you spray the mixture on your fingers it feels slick. Remove the decal from the backing paper, spray the mixture on the sticky side of the decal and you can also spray the area the decal is going to go. Apply decal, slide it around if you need to get it into the right position. Sometimes helps to rub the mixture around on the back of the decal with your clean hand this will spread the soap and let the decal slide a bit easier on your background material. Use a plastic squeege, (also used to apply bondo) or any plastic slightly flexable material. Credit cards will break. Start near the center of the decal using light pressure at first, because the decal might move untill most of the mixture is pressed out, then press harder. If you do get any trapped air bubbles, you can use a sharp pin to poke the bubbles to remove the trapped air, do not cut the bubble, because the decal with shrink over time and that cut will open up. Really nothing to it. - D
P.S. Some small bubbles will come out with time.

First prep the surface by cleaning with an alcohol pad or use some rubbing alcohol and clean rag. Don't want any grease, dirt, or figure prints on surface.
Clean again.

You can see by my avatar I got stickers galore on my sled.
Clean the place where the sticker is going (Windex is good). Then just mix a few drops of dish soap in a spray bottle (Windex, hairspray, etc). Then spay a light coat on the sled/windshield. Then remove one side of the sticker and put the sticker on the soapy liquid and move it around. Don't put a heavy coat of liquid on the sled, just a few sprays to make it slippery. Then I grab a beer cause the next step will take some time.
Here's where you need to get rid of the soapy liquid, you can go back in the house and wait a few hours, or use a heat gun/hairdryer, I use the heat gun/hairdryer and point it at the white paper for 20-30 mins that the sticker is still sticking too. This way I can babysit the sticker to make sure it doesn't move and I can get rid of any air bubbles. Eventually the soapy liquid with dry and the sticker will stick and the white paper will come without the sticker. Me, I don't use squeeges or credit cards, ....I just use my fingers.
So a few sprays of soapy water, remove a side of the sticker, put it on and move it around, press with fingers to get bubbles out, use a heat gun/hairdryer to dry the liquid, then peel off the other side of the sticker. Done.
Cheers.

Thanks for all the advice. I like the idea of involving beer.lol. Sounds pretty straight forward. I am curious as to the mixture of water to soap. Does everyone mean a couple of drops of soap and then fill the bottle with water?

I am going to try "Sticker On" this weekend-got some from a link in a similar post. Search for "Sticker Applications" or something like that . . .

Ya, I'd say 4 drops in a regular size windex bottle half full of water. Just spray a bit on your fingers and see if it's slippery, ...that's all you're looking for, ...a slippery surface.
Cheers.
