hey guys! i have updated vintagevmax.com with some new pictures and such... so check it out... most of the new pictures are of the '82 SRX 500... just click on the link and look to the right of the page to see "whats new"

Skis flipped ???
Cool pics Tyler , but did you notice the ski grapics on Jons 81 are backwards slanting toward the center unlike the yamaha ad pics of the 81 and 82 that slant to the outside ? Jon you can send those defective ones to me LOL

hmmm your right how bout that!.... jons skis must be on backwards, or else the ads are wrong im not sure where to point the finger...

We will never know the "real" reason why the 82's never made it here. I know there were major problems with the 81's between cranks failing and bad carbs even the dealer gave up on them. With all the warranty issues $$ from the 81 I dont think Yamaha could live down the bad results if the real problem were not addressed . Just my $0.02

Good eye's guys. The Ski Stickers on the 81 Skis do appear backwards based on the skis being put on the wrong side when I installed them. Still bugs me and I have yet to take the time to switch the skis around!!! Now that you guys saw the goof up I will have to make the time! LOL.
I hope to find some time in the next couple weeks to write up the history that I have learned through my contacts at Yamaha with regards to what all happened to the 82's. I have lots of data just need to put on paper and get it posted on www.vintagevmax.com. Plus, I have many more pictures.
PS: There is a possibility that I may consider selling one of the 82's I own. If someone were to want to talk about this concept send me and email. toizrit@comcast.net

JON, I BOUGHT A 82 SRX BRAND NEW. IT WAS FOR A $50 DOLLAR DEPOSIT!!!. MY DEALER CALLED ME THAT AUGUST TOLD ME HE COULD NOT GET IT. HE ASKED ME IF I WANTED A SR-V INSTEAD. NO THANKS !! 3:16 (tony)
