hi guys!!
Well my srx keep not working!! If you remember my old post, i was saying that finally, was running fine even if i don't know why!! but it was running fine for only 3 ride
Now, my max speed is 150 at 8300, no more.. WTF?? i really what to check since the engine is fine, the clutch are ok. I have try another cdi box and it doesnt change anything..
So?? The Stator?? the only thing i havent checked yet is the proaction system.. BUt it seem ok!! Electric or mechanic??? hummm

well, i did check the servo motor by running the engine below 900rpm, and it seems to work

The wifes sled had a bad servo would go like hell untill you backed out of the trottle than you not go over 120 k untill you stoped and went again. It is a 98 6oo srx
If you have the rews you should have and you ride on a hard trail, and you don`t get the speed you want, then it has to be a clutching issue?.
Remember that various conditions make a huge impact on top speed.

what if i run the sled without the powervalves, and check what happen at high speed? can broke something or it safe to do that?

If your eng is up to par, compression good, power valves adjusted and you say clutches are good ,clean, than if I were you i would check track tension or drive gears. If the track is too tight or its rubbing on the cooler protectors it will rob you of top speed.the other place i would look is with the belt (is it slipping) is the belt tension correct (adjusting it with the shim washers on the secondary) it belt should be aprox 1/8th inch above the secondary.. what belt are you running is it oil soaked? are you running an aftermarket belt such as a carlise there known to be a harder compound and they DO slip in the clutches of the yamaha i had belt slippage big time running after market belts (carlise max 2 and 3 belts) i run yamaha belts always ,always did xcept for that 1 month and it was the belt 4 sure with me .anyhow hope this may help

You said the powervalves are working but are they adjusted properly?Did you check all your bearings?Chaincase one's too?Did you check your primary spring to see if theat saged or broke also check the secindary spring they do once in a while sag.

well fortress you are not alone my buddy has a2001 srx and it has some serious performance problems too.with stock clutching it ranges from 8100 to 8500 depending on temp.put his clutches on my 2000srx it pulls 8700-8800.his sleds is considerably slower then mine.we have swapped cyl and pistons, stator i have had the skid out chain case apart inspected bearingsand still haven't found the problem i am sure we are overlooking something and it is probably minor and will probably have a good laugh when we do because it is probably something stupid that we missed.i havent tried servo motors so maybe that will be next. powervalves are clean and adjusted and they cycle on the stand.

What size of track lug to you have? This also plays a big factor in top speed.
and track tension.

wont the engine still rev to full rpms even with a faulty servo. aren't you just losing power along the way to top rpm's.

last year i had 1 stuck valve and 1 with the cable pulled through and it still revved fine. and i have stock clutching that comes in at 3800

hi! powervavle have been adjusted last year when the problem did appear
remember guys that at my second ride this year, after i did put the engine back in the sled.. i was running fine, hitting 175kmh!! the day after, no more speed.. i did disconnect the cdi box and reconnect and try again. My top speed was there again.. but now, i can't reach my top speed. I did try another cdi box, same thing.. all wires have been checked when did remove the engine !! So, how can i reach my top speed one day and the other day, i can't?? I can't beleive its mechanical cuz it would not work and work after!!! if you know what i mean!!
maybe the stator?? it drive me crazyyy!!
by the way, my bearing are new, powervalve are new, plug cap are new...

at full throttle, starting from a dead line, the rpm goes to 8500 8600 and slowly decrease to 8200.. The speed reach 150kmh, no more.

how about your plugs???
I've actualy had a similar problem that im embarassed to say was due to old plugs!...at idle it was running about 400rpm low and one of the pipes never warmed up!
At high rpms it must have be partially firing since there was NO NOTICABLE vibration or any other indication of a fouled plug!...just reduced power and a max speed of about 145km!
Try replacing them and running it again...you may be surprised!

What type of spark plug you running...Use Br9ecs Spark Plugs Are Basically A Non Fouling Plug Due To The Tapered Edge By The Electrode...and take her out on a cold day...most sleds are jetted to -20 in this area & well it hasn't been as cold latetly...let us know how you made out, Sat & Sun are gonna be real cold , well the coldest it's been this year so far, ok...

I use the correct plugs: BR9ECS. Darn expensive.
I still fight with them to not have them foul on me during warm-up...I never touch the throttle and one of them is STILL stopping firing after about 3-5 mins of warming up! And its tough to tell just by listening to the engine too!
The only way I can get them to all warm up and keep firing on initial startup is to lift the track and rev it up a bunch.
Once warm it doesnt have a problem idling at all...but the first start of the day is always a problem...

Fortress ????????? what year srx are you running.this will help with the diagnoses if its a 2002 srx it can very well be in your detonation circuit (timing retard) controled by your cdi as well.
