All the new models have the boss high rise style look to them, just wondering if anyone has modified there seat on a 97 vmax style seat and got it re-done making it higher and not square looking. i thinkit would be so much more confertable with a seat that is about 3 or more inches higher like all the new sleds are. i know boss seats are pretty nice and same style im looking for but i cant aford that

I added 4 inches of foam to the stock '97 seat on my Vmax, not sure if this is what you meant by "square" or not, but it got me about 2 inches of true rise, plus a plusher seat. Not sure how it is on the trails yet as I am one of those waiting on snow.

That seat looks great. Did you do this yourself. or had it done? Thanks

I did it myself. Got a 4" piece of high density seat foam from Joanne's Fabric at 70% off and a can of spray adheasive.($20 dollars total)
I cut out the bottom of the block to fit to the rounded seat and then I trimmed the corners off the top, the stretching of the cover gives it most of its shape. I did have to mess with the tapper and the width so it wouldn't be too wide on top after pulling the cover tight.
To re-apply the cover I just positioned it and then kneeled on the bottom of the seat as I stapled. I did mine with a hand stapler, electric or air would make it a breeze.
I did have an area towards the front rip out a little, but the seat is from a '97 so it was getting a little "fragile."
I have yet to test it on the trail, I don't really know if it is going to hold up after I pound it for a few miles, but it seems ok.
