A Tribute to my 1991 Yamaha Phazer II LE

I hate to see this sled go, but today I sold my Phazer. I bought it over two years ago for $1650 and have just sold it for the exact same price. I doubled the mileage while owning it, and it now has just over 4500kms.
I took some pictures of it today. As most you you know, I now have a 2003 Yamaha Viper. I really feel bad for selling this sled as it never caused me a problem. Not many people can say that about a sled this age.
So, did I get a good deal? I know some people have said I should have kept it as a back up, but two sleds, two permits, and the insurance isn't practical for me.

I Agree! Its Hard To Get Rid Of Some Thats As Great As These Phazers. I Had An Original 1984 The Silver One. I Was Not Kind To This Sled But It Started Evrytime And Always Got Me Home. It Was Studded,clutched, Aaen Piped, Exh. Ports Polished And Heads Trimmed. What A Sleeper. I Was The Terror Of Sodus Bay For Some Years. Sled Even New The Way Home On Nights I Couldnt Remember?? Those Were The Days
 
I have decided that I will never sell my Phazer it is a 1988 but I love that sled and it is in MINT shape. Fortunately trail passes are a bit more reasonable here in Manitoba. I have sold sleds in the past and end up kicking myself for doing it. You will really enjoy that Viper though and probaly almost as reliable as the Phazer Good choice for a sled have fun.
 
Man, it feals a little like somone has died in this thread. I am even sad about it and it isn't even MINE! Dang I love these Phazers!

By the way, Why to make your money back on her. They don't lose value vary fast do they.

Silversnow, I know what you mean. I look at the pictures and I get a sad feeling knowing that sled is no longer mine. Like I told my Dad... the things I buy tend to appreciate in value, not depreciate! :) I guess you always remember your first sled, and this one was no exception. Great memories.

No scars in the tunnel. I used hockey sticks as tunnel protectors and the studs are .875". they work very well in this sled.

Nice lookin sled, my wife had the exact same sled, we got it new in 91, put a DG pipe on it, hated to see it go, but had to sell in 97 due to $$$ reasons.
Prior to that had a 86, 88, 89 then the 91 & now have the 93 pictured here.
The Phazers are absolutely bullet proof & great fun sleds. Light on HP for a big guy like me but, gosh the are nimble & fun in the powder.

Current one has a DG pipe, Boyssen reeds & a 1" Camo track & my wife absolutely loves it. Never wants a new one which is good for my pocketbook!! Hope ya dont need a 2nd sled in a year & wish ya had this sweet one back......... that would suck!!!

this machine has been put through a beating but nothing on the skid is bent or broken. It runs like a champ starts on the second pull every time

Silversnow, that was just a problem on the 84 Phazer, newer models have more reinforcement where the skid mounts. I used to have a 84 and had same problem as you but my 88 which has 27,000km still has no problems in the tunnel.

Hey Damon, It runs great IMO. There can be debate regarding the brands, DG vs Aaen vs PSI or whomever in the piping department, but no matter what pipe ya put on the Phazer2, it just "opens" this motor up a bunch & help it breath a lot better. The reeds are also a nice reasonable priced improvement, adds some snap to the bottom end.

I think that for the "bolt on" stuff & the $$$ spent, these are the best mods a guy can do on the Phazers and not lose the awesome dependability that comes with this sled. Have done this to all the phazers we have had over the years & ZERO problems. Just get your jetting right for your altitude. I think that we have over 10,000 miles on Phazers since the 1st one & ZERO failure in the motor dept.!!

I think that dollar for dollar, the Phazer was the best bang for fun, dependability & cool looks in its day. it still is a cool look IMO & will run for a long, long time!!! ;)
