My 99 Vmax 500 is darting badly due to excessive ski pressure. I've reduced the preload on the center shock and tightened the limiter straps as much as possible but only 1/2 of the track touches the ground. Any suggestions ? :letitsnow

yup...im with gild.......if you reduce the preload on that front shock and yank up your limiters, you're actually putting more pressure on the front skiis which is not what you want to do in your situation

Thanks for straightening me out there...But how do I get the rear of the track to touch the ground? Only the front half of the track touches touches..

That sounds strange.....if you are tightening the fwd limiters but the back half of your track is off the ground??????? You might have something siezed on your skid? Have you ever removed the skid and completely clean and regreased all of the shafts?

yeah, totally rebuilt the skid with all new bushings, shocks, track---the works...the front 2/3 rds of the skis ride the ground well and the front of the track but the rear of both don't.....weird, isn't it?

first, check to make sure your fra is bolted in the correct position, not backward.

make sure your w arm isnt in upside down

what shocks did you install when you rebuilt the skid?

have you shimmed your front skis

have you aligned your front end, any change will throw off front end. if the skis are aligned correctly, front ski preasure will have little to do with darting.

have you shimmed your skis?

what is your total gap on the rear rods, what is the spacing top and bottom with you sitting on the sled

when you sit on the sled, does the front end lift at all.

some of these questions are a little simple i know, but always check the basics.
