Nope never heard of it either. I have some yamalube around still but when it's gone I'm going over to Havoline by the gallon most likely. Oil is oil for the most part there is no reason to go hog wild as long as what your using preforms like it should and is as good as or better than the rating called for by the manufacturer.

My Father's Viper 700 has nearly 6000 miles using nothing but Havoline and it runs like a champ. The Power Valves are still nice and clean. See http://www.havoline.com/products/na/motoroil_tcw3.html

Think of it like burning money. I'd rather burn it $5 at a time than $20 at a time.

I think I saw 7th gear oil at Farmington Recreational Leasure in Framington, Michigan.

Yes that's where I seen it also.

As far as burning money. Your right but I only get to burn it a couple of times a year. So I don't mind burning extra even if it only adds a little extra protection. If I don't the wife will on new shoes anyways.

Ok as far as I know here are the choices.
IPONE, Blue Marble, Spectro, Amsoil, 7th gear, Royal Purple, Klotz, and the major branders.

I think Amsoil is the popular choice but I always wonder about a company that has to advertise so much. I always hear how good Royal Purple stuff is on the saturday afternoon car shows. Lots of people like the IPONE but it smells like strawberries???

Looks like I have to look for an easy spot to buy it locally or order it.

Go with the one thats locally for ya...for me it's amsoil,my local NAPA carry's it for a good price, Klots is to hard to find plus it crazy money for the stuff, and it doubt it's better than interceptor..

I always ran Yamalube because if your in a bind at some trailside gas station thats nowhere near civilization, chances are pretty good they are not going to have your Amsoil/Klotz/7th Gear/Etc. However most of these stops will have Yamalube.

As far as protection goes...I ran Yamalube in my SRX for ~10000 miles without any engine trouble at all. In fact even with 10000 miles on this engine, it is still an incredibly strong running engine. To me that says everything I need to know about the quality of the oil (even if there are better oils available). my $.02

My thoughts exactly.

About the only thing that would make me change is a completely smokeless type and if I can get the guy in fornt of me to change as well.

Unless you have powervalves why use the full synthetic?
If you want a better oil use a good semi synth like Amsoil Interceptor. Once your at that level I really don't think your going to get any more benefit from the more expensive stuff

My buddy has 20,000 km on his 600sxr, drives it like he stole it, runs all kinds of oils, whatever is cheap and its still running strong. Another example is my buddy's 700 wildcat has over 12,000 mi on cheap Motomaster oil @ $10/gal. On the other hand I always ran synthetic and have blown up three motors. My 700 sxr at 9000 km and again at 14,000. My wifes sled blew up at 4500 km. So I'm switching to the cheap stuff because in my experience the expensive stuff doesn't make any difference.

I'm on a cruise in the Caribbean right now,,, but I had to check on you guys (for.050 a minute!!!) HAVOLINE 2 stroke oil is the EXACT same thing as YAMALUBE!!!! It comes from the SAME TANK of 2 stroke oil,, one spout fills yamalube bottles, one spout fills HAVOLINE bottles and the other 10 spouts fill anything from CITGO to Wal Mart,,, (including Farm and Fleet and others) Yamalube = $20.00 a gallon,,,,, walmart=10.00 a gallon... SAME OIL!!!!!! Who are you going to buy it from... I have to get back to the BIKINI's!!!! (I am learning to speak Papiamentu!!!)Gary Oles nosboy

i use ipone in the sxr. uses about the same as yamalube and motul. just it smells a hell of a lot better. that motul stuff really stinks when you are following a sled using it. bro uses the motul in viper because the ipone makes it look like my 500 for oil consumption.

I dont know about those other oils but i do know the esso 2 stroke moter oil is yamylube. Comes in handy when you are looking to top up at the gas station.I have never had a problem with it and have put on alot of miles over the years.
