Is there any way you can tell if there working(and not stuck) by just looking and running the sled??

going to look at a '00 this weekend, thinking of adding one to me stable
and don't want to be stuck buying new pricy valves or cables.

don't know much about it yet but the price seems right,$2,000 OBO. :)

Bring an allen wrench and pull one out to check. If the guy has ever cleaned then he will know pulling it is not a big deal and if he won't let you maybe he has never done it. I sure wish I had done this on my sled before I bought it.

If it doesnt need anything more than a powervalve or two for 2000 or bo you cant go wrong. Keep your eye on ebay and youll have no problem finding a whole servo-cable setup thats off a parted out sled. Thats an easy fix.

remove cover to servo motor and let sled idle down to 900 somehow using the choke or however you can the valve should open and you'll see the servo turn.

But even if the cables are pulled threw it will cycle???

but the cables will be loose i bet if they are pulled??

If you pull off the servo cover and pull on the cables one by one you can tell if they are working by resistance and sound.

Ask alot of questions about what type of oil he used, where the maintance was done, who the mechanic was etc,and if possible go to the dealer or garage he used and talk to the guys to make sure. It's awful not to be able to trust someone but there are too many was to disguise problems just to get that sale so take as many precautions as possible.

Boy this is funny, on the way to my brothers house to change a U-joint
in the heavy chevy so sat. i can go look at that '00 srx i spot another
blue missile,,jump on the breaks and turn around and pull in.

here it's a '01 i said this must be my lucky day,go to the door and the dude
come's out and i look it over. she's all stock studded 3000 miles and in good
condition, i'd say 8 outa 10 he said around $3200 but he'd work with me
if i was serious,so i'm thinking $2800?? what's she worth guy's??

let me have it!!!! :)

On my SRX I needed a star head screw driver to take it off, and I think there are 3 screws. I might be wrong, but I don't think you can tell by taking the cover off and feeling the tension on the cables. All your going to feel is the spring pressure from all 3. The cable could be pulled through on one, and your still going to feel the spring pressure on it. Also you can't just pull one out, see if its good or bad and assume the rest are all the same. I had 2 bad and one good. I would say if the sled is in nice shape and you can get it for a good price, get it and check the valves later. If 1,2 or all 3 are gone, just drive it like that until you can afford new ones or find some good used ones for sale. Just my .02cents, you can take it or leave it.
