Hey guys i finally installed the MaxPerf belt adjuster i bought last year. The problem i am having is it seems i am already at full adjustment on it, i followed the instructions and set up with it just touching the helix and the belt(which only has about 500 miles on it) and the belt is just over the top of the secondary. The only adjustment i have left is turn it in clockwise which drops the belt in the secondary. Could the lenght of the spacer they gave me effect this, maybe it's a little to long?...................James

did you take out the 3 screws from the back of the secondary james? and did you get a much shorter than stock spacer with the kit?
the adjustable part is opening the clutch up, to drop the belt in. loosen the allen screw and turn in the adjuster clockwise to open the sheeves and drop the belt till it just barely squeels or stops squeeling whichever you prefer. the track should act like it wants to creep alittle. the max the secondary will close is limited by the the sheeves and helix tolerences. did you get the directions? ski

Ya i did get the instructions and the shorter spacer. I followed the instructions, put the belt on and ran the sled, the belt sat lower in the secondary, so i turned the adjusted out counterclockwise and it raised the belt but just enough to see the top of the cogs about what is spec i guess 1.5mm but there is no squeal and no creeping, if i try to back off further the adjuster comes out of contact with the helix and nothing happens. I though i could back off more to raise and get some squeal.......maybe having the 1.5mm over the secondary is max? I hate when i overthink things!!!!!.....James
adjust the dial till it doesnt contact the helix, then set the parking brake, grab the belt in the middle between the clutchs and pull up and back towards the secondary clutch and spin the belt backwards on the clutch's, you will see the belt jump right up and the gap from the dial to helix close up, start out tight and squeeling and work down from there.

No luck, i tried several times to pull up and over on the belt with the same results only about 1.5mm about secondary. I did not run the sled though this time as i didn't have the time. I checked things over and there it's strange why the belt won't sit higher, with the belt off the secondary closes up and takes up all the gap to the adjuster. I guess i will try again this weekend and run the sled in the yard to see if that helps.............James
Is the bushing worn?

Are you talking about the single large bushing in the secondary, if so, i am not sure if it's worn out?..............James
So your belt sticks up 1.5mm over the edge of the secondary clutch? whats wrong then? thats plenty high out of the clutch. Are you able to rotate the belt backwards when you pull up as i told you to do? you should be able to rotate the baelt towards the back of the sled and the belt will instantly come up to max ride out on the clutch if not, then you either have the bolts in back of secondary or the belt is worn and the sheaves are already touching.

Yes i did pulled back on the belt as you described, did it a few times with no real result, the secondary kept opening up on me. The belt is only 0.5mm off new 34.5mm......all i was looking for it to be higher up in the secondary like others have said so i would squeal and then i could bring it down to be spot on, but like you said it's above the sheave now what more do i want? Hopefully i will get to ride it this weekend and see how it is.........James

Sorry guys, yes that was the first thing i did when i took the secondary off.............James
Sorry to drop in... But if you install this kit do you have any free-play on secondary (side movement)?

The kit does eliminate free play on the secondary..........James
Take the spring out and see if the main bushing is worn.
James, do the secondary sheaves touch all the way together with no belt on it?? When you pull up and back on the belt your pulling too hard on the "up" part if your opening the rear clutch, your wanting to basicly spin the belt backwards and this takes the excess tension off the secondary clutch to belt contact and when it rotates back it will jump right up in the sheaves. I can raise the belt to the point where it becomes too short, will stick up out of the secondary sheaves a good 3/16" then I adjust it down to the sweet spot from there. With the sled on the ground adjust it till it will just barely quit squeeling when idling.

Yes the secondary is completly closed with the belt off and yes i am pulling up to hard, sorry.....i am going out tomorrow to hit the river tomorrow so i will try again, i have to align track and few other little adjustment. We only have about 10' on the ground but it's been really cold the the last week and a half so aleast the waterways have a good base now.............James
