Hey guys, I'm more familiar with the RX1, and have been a member of the 4 stroker forum since it came out back in 03.

But the question I have is related to my 2000 VMax 500, which is the sled my wife drives.

The handlebars sit so low, and while I have done a 2" riser on my RX, I purchased a 4" Powermadd that looks like it requires that I buy extensions to put on the Max. Do you guys know if I need to buy all 3 extensions, or do you think that I can re-locate some of the cables?

I have never had to do a throttle extension or change out lines, so the least I have to do the better. And any general install info that you have would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance ffor any help tha tyou may have.

I put a 2" block on my 00 MM and I had to re-route the cables a little and they were stretched pretty tight, mainly the brake line. I ended up going to a 4" block with a pivot adapter that added another 2.5" and had to get all new cables. I'm sure you'll hear from some guys who have stayed stock with a 4" rise but I would guess their cables are really tight especially when their bars are turned all the way to the side.

You need a brake line, oil cable, and a throttle cable. I currently have 5.5" if rise on my srx and i put mtn max cables on it and it works perfectly.

Get with Rich he can hook you up with everything you need for a good price!

I second this.

you got it Mountain cables.
I have a 5.5" Rox riser on my 01 MM 700.
Extended brake line from Royal Distributing.
Throttle cable in the stock position, oil cable over the air box.
Contrary to other posts they are not tight and it works great.
I am pretty sure that I could not go any higher.
You can also try Gravity Worx. They have an extended oil and throttle cable combos.

With the stock cables on my 01' SXR700 (same cables as the mountain max). I have a PowerMadd 4" riser and 2" pivot. I did add Rental bars that are flatter so that matters. But I did not need any new cables. The brake line is at it's limit so you can't go any higher than this. Doug

Well, first of all, the Rich that you guys are referring to is the same Rich that I know - the one in Butte Des Mortes, WI?

Secondly, seeing some different theories. Here's what I believe so far. I need a throttle extension for sure. What are the pros and cons for either getting an extension, or getting a mountain cable? I can wire tie up the extension with the slack, that option is probalby 10 bucks more. Which is easier and faster. I believe I need the brake line too, I think I was able to run the oil line and get enough slack last night in that.

Thanks for all the responses.

I have read here and in snowest that an throttle extension causes increased throttle pull. I have also read that power madd extensions will not work with Yamaha cables. Someone on here should know for sure.
Later going riding...........

Have a great ride. Gonna try and get out tomorrow if there aren't too many weekend warriors.

Thanks for the input. Based on that, mountain cable seems to be the wya to go.

It was a great ride. We did not see another sled the whole day.
Check gravity worx their extended cables look good.
