I just bought a 2000 sx-r 700, its got a ton of mods on it but I think they are all working against each other. It has a set of SLP triple pipes on it, whats the required main jet size for them? It also has some sort of cold air kit on it I think, or someone got a little creative with the air box and carbs. Its got a fuel type line coming out of the top of the center carb and going into the air box,I don't play around much with sx-rs but I don't think this is factory equiptment? Also whats the best clutch set up for them pipes? I think this could be a fast sled if it was set up right. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

The line that is from the top of the carbs to the airbox is either a tempa-flow, or a variflow. Post some pics and it will be a lot easier to identify.

Sounds like there an ATACC installed on that sled.
Auto temp altitude carb compensator.
I installed one on the MM700 in the fall.
It is working flawlessly.
If that is what it is then jet for the lowest altitude and coldest temp you
ride. Atacc will only lean out the engine not make it richer.

Thanks for the input, worked and played with tons of Yamahas never came across or put one in. What do they do?

if it is atacc it adjusts your jetting based on temp and altitude.
You jet for your richest riding conditons ( coldest and lowest )
atacc will lean it out from there. For a good description try
Holtzman's web site. They manufacture atacc, vari flow and tempra flow.
I believe you have one of these systems.

I have slps on my sx and am currently runnings 147.5's across the board, you might wanna go to 150's if you have that device on it, currently running 8ca's w aluminum rivets in both holes, 51/43 helix at 70*, shelf is removed. one layer head gasket removed and reed spacers installed! pulls hard and shifts out to 9000 rpm

Cool, thanks guys. Gonna spend the weekend playing with some set-ups. We finally got enough snow to ride on.
