Help with riser

I am looking to buy a riser for a 99 vmax 500 and 03 sxr 600. what kind would I need to put on with out buying cable ext..
 
I would go with just a 2" riser block, powermadd makes a good product but if you want a pivot adapter you will need extensions.
 
Go with the solid non-pivoting riser 2" riser from powermadd. This is best and requires no cable changes. A pivoting riser affects your steering in that your bars are no longer in line with your steering shaft, so when you turn your bars, they move down on you and no longer pivot around the central point which is the steering shaft.

True....but a solid block also moves the bars farther toward the rear, which many people do not want (center of gravity, etc.) I've noticed no adverse effects of my pivoting riser. Also, many of the new sleds (doo, a/c) have risers that pivot while not inline with the steering shaft.
 
I plan to put a 2" Rox riser on soon... cables should be fine? They have the pivot built in, and cost about the same as a block and pivot from PM. Difference is, non-upgradable (I dont care), and one pc. vs. two (I like the looks more).

Actually, in trying to adjust my bars forward more, seems there is a tab or something that holds them back... well, while loose, I gave a good tug upward, heard a snap, and bars moved fwd more freely. Did I break something important?

Check around the base of the pivoting riser/plastic shroud around steering shaft. I know at the right angle my riser would hit that plastic pretty good, you probably just reefed it past that certain point. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

And yes, with a 2" your cables should be fine.
