Hi all,

New member.

Classic question I'm sure. My sled won't start after pulling out of garage.

I bought the sled new last season as a leftover. It ran great for the season.
To store it, I mixed Stabil in the gas tank and ran the engine a while to get
stabilized fuel throughout the system. I changed the oil. I connected a battery tender. I left a full tank of stabilized fuel.

Starter motor is spinning fine, but not catching. It had started fine a few times over the long storage period.

Was thinking about starting with pulling spark plugs to see if they're fouled.
Called local dealer and tech said either not fuel getting to carbs from tank or
carbs are fouled and need cleaning. He dismissed spark plugs.

Am I going to have to clean the carbs?
What other things should I check first.

Will the carb-cleaning write-ups here work for an RX-Warrior?
Does anyone happen to have a Warrior specific carb-cleaning "how-to"?

Thanks!

BK

It is probably a dry fuel pump. 1 thing that really helps is to pressurize the fuel tank by locating the vent line and blowing in it, then cover with your thumb and crank the engine. Did this on my Vector and worked like a charm.
The vent line should be behind the cowl in front of left knee. It is encased in a spring.

you'll get more help for a 4stroke on the TY 4 Stroke Forum. Ty4Stroke

Poor somew gas in the spark plug holes and see if it want to start that way. If it does then it is fuel and not elec. problem.

No start

My Viper would not start last year also. It was stored on the enclosed and the gas line froze. Probably from condensation in the line or carbs. Would run when fed thru the plug holes thou. Pulled in in the garage for a few hrs in front of a readyheater and she lit right off. Was yours setting like a frozen block in the garage ?

i have to second the dry fuel pump..my srx had the same problem last year..i had air in the lines so bluw in the gas tank for a little bit to put pressure and she started after

Well as a matter of fact, I got it started!
Sledman92 over on snowmobileworld.com gave me the purging lead.

It was not fouled plugs, although initially they looked kind of bad. Sled has 1193 miles total, and I bought the plugs at the beginning of last season- the first season.
It was definitely lack of fuel.

Here is what I did:
1) Pulled plugs. Burnished them on a bench grinder with brass wire wheel. Sprayed electrical
contact cleaner on them and wiped off.
2) Installed the plugs. Tried start;no fire.
3) Pulled each plug individually and grounded it on frame. Turned starter to check spark.
Each had healthy blue spark.
4) Smelled each plug. Seemed not to be "gassy" smelling enough.
5) Looked for gas tank vent hose to blow compressed air. I couldn't find it so
I found 2 lines from tank into a junction-diaphragm-looking-thing just ahead of the carbs.
6) Pulled those lines and blew compressed air into the metal nipples

Kicked a few times after that, and then with choke wide open, fired up for real.

Thanks for the ideas and info!
