2000 sxr 700 with psi stockblaster triple pipes (peak power at 8950 rpm), 150 mains all across, needles set at clip position 4, 45 pilots at stock turn out, reed spacers, carbontech reeds, boost bottle, 16mm rollers, heel clicker kit with 4.2 in shoulder and the rest empty, 45/39 helix from turk with green spring set at 60. Here's what the sled does now.
Off the line rpms go right up to 9000 and stay there and drop to about 8950 after 300 feet or so. Here's what i tried before that and the results i got
4.2 shoulder 3.3 tip= 9000rpm holeshot then dropped to 85-8600 after 200' and stayed there
4.2shoulder 2.0 tip= 9000 holeshot then dropped to 8700 after 200' and stayed there
4.2 shoulder 2.0 middle tip empty=9000 hole shot then dropped to 8700 after 200' and stayed there.
Testing was all done at about -12c so sled was making good power.
My question is have i found my best setup or can i do better? should my holeshot rpms be lower then climb to 9000? if so how would i accomplish this?
Any advice would be great. buddy's hc clutched viper is right with me and it's ticking me off thought i should be able to smoke him.

why the use of 16mm rollers? you apply less force to the wieights the bigger the roller, also you have a higher engagement speed and shift rpm. For snow thats doesnt work very well in my opinion.
Run tip empty or remove 1-2 grams from heel & run 2 grams tip. 2 options that will get ya closer.

using the 16mm rollers cause that's what was in there dunno why they aren't stock as far as i know. i have a set of 14.5's kicking around should i throw those in and try them? if i use the 14.5's what should i go with for weight? Turk at one point i did run about 3 grams in the heel and 2 in the tip it was still shooting to 9000 then dropping back down to 8600. the only way i could get rpms to stay at 9000 was to run the middle and tip empty. maybe the rollers are my issue. My primary was always kinda hot maybe this is due to the rollers not applying enough force?
use a 15mm roller or 15.6mm roller, stay away from the 14.5 unless you have alot of tuning time with h/c's
If you got 15.6 rollers run them. 15,s can load that motor pretty hard down low. definately turf the 16,s for the 15.6,s & then run tip empty.

ok i'll see if i can find some 15.6's. Turk are you saying the 15's might load the motor up too much on the low end? also you guys say the 16's raise engagement rpm. i guess because the roller stays tucked in the pocket of the weight longer? just wondering i did notice i have a very slight bog off the line like it takes a second for the power to come. almost feels like something is holding the clutch back momentarily then boom all of a sudden it goes like stink. do you think that problem might also be solved by the smaller rollers?
Lean bog...happens with aggressive clutching especially hc,s. You need to turn out your fuel screws.

ok i'll try them out to 2 turns sound good to start? i guess after 2 1/2 turns out you have to go up a jet size right?
you can go 3 but not any more. pilots aren,t directly related to the mains but they do contribute maybe 5% on top.

set my pilots at 2 1/2 no more bog perfect now thatnks for the info. now as for clutching put the 15.6mm rollers in 4.3 shoulder rest empty secondary at 60 rpms go right to 9000 and stay. i thought i'd try putting some weigt in the tip to get more topend but this didn't work i took 2 grams out from the heel and put it in the tip engagement went to 4600 and rpms shot to 9000 stayed for 500' then back down to 85-8600. so i guess i'm pretty limited as to what i can do cause she doesn't seem to want to pull and hold right rpms with any weight at all in the middle or tip. is this normal? should i just leave it running weight in the heel and none in the rest? with that setup both clutchs run cool to the touch so no lost power there that i can see. it does seem to rev a hair over 9000 once it stretches it's legs so maybe i can run a little more heel weight would this help anything ? topend?
rpm,s are perfect & if belt is getting to the top (1/4" from top) & shives are nice an shiny it don,t get no better!

alright sounds like i'm good then. also turk do you have a a helix close to 48/34 or 48/36 trying to get my topend back on the srx and mrviper recomended a really shallow finish angle so i can run alot more tip weight.
What Heel Clickers are recommended to buy?
Got sx700r with psi triple pipes, thin head gasket and spacers.
I saw they had several types at sledgear.
so; 50-7, 45-7, 65-11 or 40-10??
And what about helix/springs?

i run the 40-10's that work for all the yamaha tripples. helix i have is a 45/39 with a green yamaha secondary spring at 60 twist. wow our setups seem really close.
Well, besides the kit, reeds and boost bottle it's pretty much the same.
I am about to order a kit, but I wonder if a 51-43 helix would work?
And what is the difference from a 48-39?

51/43 helix with hc,s is too aggressive for that sled with those pipes.
Too bad, I only have a 51-43
OK what do you recommend? I live by the coast so we climb from 0-1100Meters in like 30-45 minutes, and I mostly ride off the trails.

How about that helix recommendation turk?
