how are they in the powder, how about on the hard pack and off trail ?.Do they out perform the srx ? are they storonger off the line. lets take the srx and the apex same mods who crossethe line first....sorry guys im looking to buy a new sled i want better than i got ..i want speed, good powder, ditch banger, jumper ,and a spank your *** kind of machine maybe i should just buy a cat they seem to be good allroung sleds (wish yamaha made a snowcrosser)

apex and attak aren't ditch bangers. the nitro is barely a ditch banger. all fast tho.

i just went head to head today with my brother. he has 2002 viper with 136" ripsaw on it. i have a 2005 (nc) rxwarrior with 136" ripsaw. he weighs about 80lb less than i do. both sleds are stock gearing and thi viper is trail cluched but otherwise stock. off the line he was jumping me about 1-2 sled legnth. we both had so-so hookup. once i got er wound up i pulled him on topend. chickened out after that and let off but damn he was impress for a totoally stock sled.

the apex is better at everything you listed. the only thing the srx is better at is cornering flat.

I ride with a 06 apex that is totally stock. I think the sled does everything better then my srx other than cornering. It is really fast for a stock sled. It seems to run around in the powder and water just fine. I don't know if it is the best ditch banger out on the market. But if I had the money, that is the sled I would buy for all around trail riding. The only complaint that I have is it is a cold mother@#$%er to ride, and even with the new handle bars the hand warmers suck!!!!!!!!

riverunner,

Yamaha corrected the hand warmer issue for 2007. They also corrected the crappy suspension they had in the 2006 RTX updated with another for 2007.

07 RTX a good ditch banger

I love the 07 RTX. sexy looking machine and even though it can handle a pounding through the moguls, it isnt an uncomfortable machine to trail ride I dont think. dads vector has a similar skid (different shocks) and seems like with the clicker on the rtx you could adjust it either way, for hard charging or groomed trail. its what I would get, depending on the day. I like the GT as well. rtx sets me off with the color scheme though, looks amazing!

I havent had the chance to get on a trail yet but we've been having some good ol' backyard drags! 1/2 mile field we've run a 136" 98 SRX, piped 700 SXR, 99 SRX and the 06' Attak and the Attak is king of the hill from start to finish. I would bet the SRX's will run it down in a longer stretch. The MONO BLOWS. I have the shock preload cranked all the way up and the clicker on hard and I can bottom it out on a holeshot.

I got beat pretty bad by an Attak, in fact everybody that was with on that trip got their a$$es handed to them by the Attak. There was my SRX, an RX1, a Rev 800, MXZ 800, and a ZR580. The Attak won hands down, and the rest of us, besides the ZR580 were pretty close to each other.

I would say my Attak does everything but corner better than my SRX. On a long day 300+ miles the Attak is great.
As for the bars YUP they are cold even w/ the 07 update. They need more power going to them. Mabey for 08 Yami will get it.
I love the Mono Shock. The first time I had it out the thing would bottom hard. So I sat down and learned how the ssuspension works and made the changes I needed. Now it barely bottoms even on the big landings.
I love my SRX I will never get rid of it, But the Attak is a much better sled

find a yamaha demo near you

find a yamaha demo. last winter 5 of us all on srx's stumbled onto the yam demo at munising. we were all impressed!!! we were lucky they didn't have credit card machines we are hooked. The demo was great the yam guys ride along but we rode hard and fast i aimed the sleds at every thing but a tree. trails had 2-3-4 ft woops and we hit tripples like on our YZ's. Don't tell the big shots at yam, the demo guys were great. 07 attak was our hands down fav. never had time to screw with the GT electric shock much but demo guys did tell us GT is for groomed trails and the plain attack was what they recomeded for us. They said yam has trouble with dealers pushing GT to everyone but they felt like different sleds completly. The phazer was a ball, rode like a quad, motor felt like a quad also, good or bad not sure if good for long trail rides but very fun. now use a pair of YZ 450 motors instead of 250's and were talking fun. I will be buying a 07 attack used in a coupe years Don't listen to dealers or guys who know their sled is better go ride them at a demo.

what clip position is your cam adjuster set at?? I think you think it blows because it is set to absorb bumps instead of bounce over them. adjust it for your weight and it will be nice. even a 350lb guy couldnt get the pro action to work like the mono. it truly is a better design, just that they FINALLY put some real worl valving and spring in it!

It's 100% maxed out. I have no more adjustment on the spring or the dampening adjustment. I'm 6'7" and probably around 320 lbs. with all my gear on. They sell the Fat boy spring for 100 bucks, I guess that's what I'll need. I'm not saying it isnt an update from the No action, but I'm not impressed with the skid. I launched good off the line once and the studs hit the top of the tunnel extension when it bottomed out. PISSED :o|

Yeah a guy of your size needs the spring, the guy I ride with is 6'5 and 245 pounds and he has his adjuster up and it works great for him. The cool thing is I can get on the sled and turn the nob down and it seem good to me at 150 pounds.

It says right in the specs for that suspension that riders that heavy will need the heavier spring in order to get proper suspension performance otherwise it will just bottom all day long. You can't set the sleds up to suit everybody from the factory, there will always be outliers. They are set up for the average rider, and if you aren't the average sized rider that rides the average riding style, you have to make adjustments.
