sobfrogg said:I would say my Attak does everything but corner better than my SRX. On a long day 300+ miles the Attak is great.
As for the bars YUP they are cold even w/ the 07 update. They need more power going to them. Mabey for 08 Yami will get it.
I love the Mono Shock. The first time I had it out the thing would bottom hard. So I sat down and learned how the ssuspension works and made the changes I needed. Now it barely bottoms even on the big landings.
I love my SRX I will never get rid of it, But the Attak is a much better sled
I agree. Even a well tuned SRX will have a hard time with a new apex or attak.

Good reports. Really, really curious to see what changes may occur for 08' If it's BNG's I'll puke. Yamaha has huge opportunities right now and they need to capitalize on them. A 120 version of the Phazer, A 160+HP Apex/Attak Line. They need to Keep working on the weight thing with a "diamond drive like" system. A significant step up in ski design, so you don't feel it's necessary to swap m' for A.M.. I think we all know that Blue has an open door to take more market share.

im sure the apex/attak will remain unchanged until the 09 model year. they usually run a 3 year cycle.

Three year cycle then it will be time to see some big changes in the vector/nytro/rage huh!

i think so. the phazer and apex will stay the same (maybe attak rtx?) and most changes will be on the 120 class.yahadriver23 said:Three year cycle then it will be time to see some big changes in the vector/nytro/rage huh!

so the new sleds are a big improvement over the first rx1's? because the only people i've talked to up north with yamaha 4 strokes were those, and they weren't too happy with them.

the RX1 was a decent sled, and in 05 was the sled it should have been all along. the apex makes the rx1 feel old, dated, heavy, and poor riding. the apex feels lighter, is far faster, revs quicker, seems to have less engine braking and rides/handles far better. it is an altogether different sled

I rode nospro's Attak and that thing is unreal.
I did not want to get back on my SRX after I rode it. It was the first time I tried out a 4 stroke too!!!!!!!
NO B.S.
They are fast!!!
I just bought a 2007 MTN Apex has a shorter lug track for trail riding. I drove it before I bought it. When I go to michigan next year. My SRX might sit on the trailer the entire time
I got beat pretty bad by an Attak, in fact everybody that was with on that trip got their a$$es handed to them by the Attak. There was my SRX, an RX1, a Rev 800, MXZ 800, and a ZR580. The Attak won hands down, and the rest of us, besides the ZR580 were pretty close to each other.
I got beat by that Attak pretty bad too. Please dont feel bad. These new 4 strokes haul A$$

You are so right!! I use to wax the RX-1's all the time with my SRX.
And I was pissed and kept saying they quit making my SRX for this heavy piece of iron?? Im glad I didnt buy into the HYPE when they first came out but yes, Yamaha did nothing less than outstanding by refining the RX-1 with the new Apex.

ok thanks for the feedback guys. the only people i heard from were definately biased against yamaha up north....."rode my buddys rx1 and the thing was sucha big heavy slow bad handling piece of junk blah blah blah". good to know the apex is 100 times better. been really thinkin about gettin one. had 4 stroke yamaha dirt bikes and street bikes my whole life...and never had 1 problem. then i got this sled and it seems like they never stop lol. just sucks cuz its all the reasons why i never got a 2 stroke dirt bike....sigh

I will tell you what. While I was in the UP this past week, I couldn't believe how many APEX/ATTAKs I saw on the trails. Last year I saw maybe 2. This year I couldn't even count how many there were. I hate to say it, but it was like Polaris used to be.......everywhere. The word is out on these. Pat's in Greenland was selling them like hotcakes. One guy bought a Phazer there the other day and traded it back in for an ATTAK. One of our guys ended up buying that Phazer with 360 miles on it....LOL (already owns an ATTAK though). The day I left I was paying for our cabin and another guy walked in with Poo clothes on to pay for gas and he looked at me and pointed at a new Apex on the floor and said........"that's my next sled hands down". The one thing I noticed on this thread is this: The guys not liking the rear skid etc. on the APEX/ATTAKs seem to be born after 1980 when I check their profile. These guys need to ride the new RTX. I rode one that a customer of Pat's had with some FIX POWERSPORTS mods on it. I rode it pretty hard down the trail, jumped some rode approaches and put it through the paces. This sled handles the junk well and is comfortable to boot. The GT's are probably suited for guys like me, the mid aged crowd that likes the push button adjustability and creature comforts. I wanted to find a 2001 or 2002 SRX myself as did one of my buddies at work for their good lake performance, but we both are now seeking APEX type sleds.

good to hear another opinion compared to what i've been hearing...."4 stroke??? psh, ok have fun with that big heavy slow thing!" hoping that when i go up this weekend, maybe i'll bump into someone that will let me take one of those new ones for a quick rip. and its funny u mention seeing no yamahas....i went up to pittsuburg twice last year...and only saw a handful. was the only one in our group of 12

i have an 07 attack which is stock and i beat all my buddies with attacks and apexes around. not by much 3-4 lengths in 2500ft and i went to the drag races this weekend and run four 2002 srxs done by guys that know how to tune them and they were at least two lengths quicker in 660. also the apex or attack is never going to stay with an srx on the big end. i have owned two srxs and one attack and the srx are still contenders

2000-2002 SRX's have big legs on top, no doubt........ You can really get those ATTAKs to come off the line on hard pack snow if you set the rear skid up. The one on our trip was bone stock with 150 miles on it when we started. The exact same looking red ATTAK GT demo at the dealers was also stock but had the rear skid setup for more transfer. That one had about 230 miles on it. We did some drags with the two, I was driving the demo and the ATTAK owner in our crew riding his own. The demo I drove would absolutely wax the other one off the line by about 7-10 lengths and the race was over. We did rolling starts and they were equal. We ended up adjusting the rear skid transfer adjuster to match the demo and it made a huge difference. That really helped against those MACHs on the lake later in the week.

The couple guys i ride with (apex's) including myself have there transfer set out all the way and your right they do hookup incredibly well compared to the stock setup. You going up north this week journeyman?
