Well I went for my second ride of the season. We started from Trenton and trailored to Bancroft. We then unloaded and headed up towards Barry's Bay then supposed to continue to Whitney then back to Bancroft. The day started out great the trails had about 5 inches of fresh snow on them. We stoped for lunch at Barry's Bay and this is where the day started to suck...
After lunch we were just heading out of the parking lot and bang. Dead stop of my machine. I only hit one of those small parking lot barriers. But it was broken and my ski hit it just right. I flew over the hood and landed on the concrete. I wasn't even going fast...maybe 25 KPH max...Just a sore wrist and elbow that's it...On me...My sled on the otherhand didn't fair too well. As you can see from the pictures below, it bent quite a bit of stuff. I can replace most of it but I'm not sure what I am going to do about the tunnel. I don't know if it is even repairable...Does anyone have any idea of how to fix it???
I took tomorrow off work to start to tear the right side appart and see what is actually bent and broken. I know from just looking at it that the radius rods, tie rod, sway bar, trailing arm, ski, and maybe the shock need replacing. Thats just the preliminary. I'll know more tomorrow and post what I will be looking for under WTB...(I'll take some more pictures tomorrow and post them on Wed when I get back to work)
If anyone has any suggestions on how to repair the tunel I would be greatly appreciative...
Thanks...The first picture is the before picture on Friday
(I hope the pictures post)
Can't get the pictures to post...Help...

Go to microsoft.com and on the right side of screen look for powertoys image resizer. You need to make you r pics smaller for this site. ONce you download the program install it and you can right click on a pic and select resize pictures (third from the top I believe) and you should be all set.

I can't download any programs on this computer...Since it is a work computer it's blocked and firewalled...any other way to do it???

Save the pictures in a folder and then resize each photo (and save it). You should have windows/microsoft picture program and resizing is usually under the edit menu.

Sorry to hear about the sled. How were the trails, I didn't think much was open up there yet judging by the OFSC website. I'm considering going up there this weekend if its good riding.

Email the pictures to me I'll even host them for you. xtc600 at mykeeshond dot com. Email them as big as you can I'll host both the big and resized ones. I have plenty of space so no worries there.

if they will fit i have the right side from my 2001 sx500r i cna sell you. i have the tie rod tube, upper and lower links, sway bar links and a trailing arm. all are stock yamaha silver for the sxr so you would have to paint them to match your sled.
they ar all in very good condition. i only took them off because it was cheaper for me to buy a cbperformance aluminum front end kit than to buy just the peices to fix the one side. pm me if you want them so we can negotiate price.
dont have any spare shocks or skis but i am shure someone on here is sellin a set of take off sxr/viper/rx1/apex whitch should be a good up grade if you havent already.

must be something about that area man. me, my dad and a friend of ours were heading for barrys bay on sunday. we got to golden lake so i decided to let the apex stretch its legs abit. well i got the the other side of the lake and dad pulled in not far behind me. and we waited and waited and waited, so we finally whent back looking for the other guy. there he was about half way accross the lake whith a toasted motor. brand new ski-doo gtx with 300km on it. needless to say he wasent happy. by the way where did you guys eat? the balmoral? thats were were heading
FuzzButt - I sent them to Mr Sled and he is posting them for me but thanks for the offer.
Da_Moose - The trails were fantastic in sections but were extremely rough in spots. One more snowfall should do it.
InsaneSXR - It must be the area...Thats too bad about your friend. Since it's new it should be under warrenty...Last year a friend tore his entire track off his sled up there...Maybe I'll stay away from there for a while...LOL
I cant remember the name of the restaurant/motel but it is located along Hwy 62. Excellent food just stay off the area right infront of the motel section.

I did the same thing 4 years ago. Just got the sled off the trailer and was going to park it in front of the cabin and next thing I know I am airborne. I saw the parking blocks and thought I would go inbetween the one and go over the one next to it, but no I went over the handle bars and bruised my ribs. I missed the whole weekend of riding, but did alot of drinking.
I bent my trailer arm and did not bend the running boards.

ouch! i did basically the same thing in the UP on a frozen ant hill in a ditch. only i didnt end up with a bent running board and i was going probably 40-45 mph.

A guy at work did that and we peplaced everything and bent the footrail back. He has been riding it for 6 years now. Ya it still has a small bend in it, but you have to really look to see it.
A few smacks with a BFH will bring the tunnel back close. You may have to remove the foot step and trailing arm mount from the tunnel to get it all depending on where the creases are. It will never be perfect but only you will ever see it unless it is pointed out.
sry man. that is the same side i wrecked on my sxr. mine must have has a curse on it. every time i loaned it to someone to ride it that is the side that came back bent in some way.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words and encouragement.
After working on it for 3 days (about 16hrs) I got it all back together and it's working great. I had to weld a 6 inch crack in the aluminum and the only parts I had to replace were the pivot point, trailing arm, radius rods, and the tie rod. (Only 200.00 bucks worth) I was able to mould the plastic ski back into shape. The shock has a slight bend but it seems to be working fine. As some of you said you can hardly tell that it ever happened. Just a small ripple in the footwell area.
I took it for its first ride yesterday and no problems...Lot of bumps and lots of snow. Hopefully it will be good to go for the rest of the season.
Thanks again.
