i was thinking on gearing my top sprocket down one tooth, how noticable will this make things, right now i am at stock gearing. also how much speed will i end up losing on top end?
thanks
thanks
How does dropping a tooth loose top end It should gain on top end smaller top gear means less power more speed. Taller gear means more power less speadyamaholic22 said:on a 2000-2002 srx you will lose a little top end by dropping a tooth on the top gear but as others said you will gain holeshot and midrange IF you have good traction. If you dont have good traction it is pointless. You will also probably have to add weight to the primary to keep rpms in check. Personally i like to use the stock gearing on the '00-'02's
Gotchya I was having a Senior moment. I am glad you corrected me I would have purchased the wrong top gear. I am looking to gain back 5MPH top end I have stock gearing now. What would be the best top/bottom gear set up to achieve this??? I have heavy weights in the primary clutch 20's I believe with stock Helix and Green secondary spring.pro116 said:sledneckdon
you have it back wards
example 21-38 witll go fater on top end(MPH) than 20-38
but 21-38 will go slower than 21-37
if you want o go faster mph you either have to gearup on the top gear or go down on the lower gear.
