"Apparently mixing the port timing cant be that big of a deal because Ive been running it like this for about 2000 miles with no issue on those cylinders".
With statements like that why bother.......................

Well because yamaholic said go for it and pro116 said that he wouldnt advise it but I just wanted a third opinion to chime in but since the chain case cylinder is a 2000-02 cylinder I guess it doesnt matter at this point since Im already stuck with a mismatch. I'm just looking to figure out why you shouldnt do it. For example what are the risk if any? Is it just a performance issue because if that is the case Im not too worried about it. By the way I wasn't trying to be a smart a$$ by saying that I was just hoping someone would clarify why it shouldnt be done.mrviper700 said:"Apparently mixing the port timing cant be that big of a deal because Ive been running it like this for about 2000 miles with no issue on those cylinders".

Personally I WOULD NOT mismatch!!!! We can get into a peeing match about port timing,,, but,,, PORT TIMING is VERY CRITICAL!!!! If 1 cylinder works one way and another cylinder works another way, it will play HELL on the crank and rods.. Believe it or not, crankshafts actually twist up and bend a little... rods stretch and twist... if you change the port timing of 1 cylinder, you knock the WHOLE HARMONIC BALANCE and the cylinders actually FIGHT EACH OTHER!!! if you have a STOCK sled,,you probably wont notice anything except maybe a little more SHAKE of the handlebars!!!You might get lucky and take some shake from the bars!!! Im another guy who wouldnt advise it!!!

Why does the dealer have to be such a dicC and put me in this positon? Now I have to find 2 '99 cylinders just to fix it right!
