98 SRX 700.
The highest speed ive been able to attain is 158km/hr (98mph) on GPS.
I see the common setup for clutches is a WWW, 8DN20s, 4.5g each hole, 51/43 and red @ 70.
I'm running YSY, 8DN20s, 2.4g inner, 2.7g outer, 52/43 bender and red @70.
Belt is about 70% used, motor has about 7000 kms on it (im doing the top end this coming summer), everything else is stock AFAIK.
Off launch it will overshift if I don't feather the throttle, if done well it will jump to about 8000 and climb to about 8500 eventually.
If I am trail running and running hard corner-to-corner it will only jump to about 7800 rpms when I hammer on it after the corner!
I tried wrapping the helix to 90 to see the effect and I could only top out at about 140...but the sled sure did feel snappier....the odd thing is I didnt notice the rpms change much at all in trail riding (still ~7800)!
-Compression is up around ~120 on all 3 (within 10% of each other at least...i cant remember exact numbers tho)
-Powervalves are all clean and adjusted.
-New plugs and boots installed at start of season.
Here are things I'd like to correct if possible. Can any/all of these be solved? If so, how?
1) Why am I only able to run about 1/2 the weight of the common setup? Is it possible that my engine power is low? How much effect would the old piston rings have? Is this because it is a 98 and not a 2000+?
2) What can I do to break 100mph like it should?
3) I would sure love to have 8300 rpms after hammering on the throttle after a corner...what can I do for this?
4) How many additional rpms can I expect to see the sled pull when I replace the rings, and when I get a new belt?
5) Could I possibly re-distribute the primary weight to solve some of the above problems?
Thanks in advance!...
I really need some direction from everyone as to where I should focus on next to get the last 10-20 mph out of this machine!
