can you drill and tap the rivit hole of a stock swing weight
I need to add some tip weight, I am at the heaviest (4.5 gram) rivit now.
can I drill and tap or is the weight hardened.
and if so, what bolt size/tap size is used

Not shure it pretty hard material. but hauck powersports sells 5.0,5.5,and 6 gram boldts with nut for the stock clutch weight.

thanks pro
your advice on the hauck bolts made me think about this option of "rambunctious" bolts ground to the right weights
something I could do today at work in the machine shop
but duuuuuhhhh. who needs threads when you can just add a nut to the otherside.
don't tell anyone I'm actually an engineer

will tip weight fix toop half high rpm issue
if bottom half of cluching is good, but top half is 400 rpm high
is adding tip weight the right (best) thing to do?
currently running

4.5 gram each rivit
8400 out the hole
8900-9000 top half
if so. will 5 gram do it? or big changes are needed 6 gram, 7?

Yes, you can tap it
You can do it with a 1/4 inch tap. Just be careful, the weight is extremely hard. Do it in baby steps and use good cutting oil.

what sled? if its a viper i prefer it to gain rpm on the top end of a long run. more rpm's=higher top speed. usually 1 gram=100rpm. you can also add a washer to the rivet for more weight, but it cant stick out past the profile of the weight. and you want the weight in the tip. i think the heavy hauck rivets would do it.Rambunctious said:if bottom half of cluching is good, but top half is 400 rpm high

just put a spring with less total force

just curiouse but wouldnt less total force mean more rpms or is is the other way
less total force mean lower rpm more total force more rpm
Rambunctious

modsrx means less total springforce ( lower spring rat on primary spring) will result in lower rpm.
SRX is my sled
the combo I have is suppose to be the good setup, so i don't want to deviate too much or I might as well start over
so I am hoping fine tuning the rivit weigth will be it
so if 1 gram = 100, do you mean 1 gram per swingweight (ie. 3 total grams) = 100rpm
or .3 gram per swing weight (x3) = 1 gram Total = 100rpm?
IE. to drop 100 rpm, my rivit/bolt should go from 4.5g to ? ( 4.833.. or 5.5)
thanks

add a 1 gramm in the total of the 3 weight ....
but i'm sure you dont have 4.5 in both hole if you have a w-w-w
add some tip weight

Add one gram to each weight to start out. Make adjustments from there.
