Compression on 97 vmax SX

He has 105 on one side and 110 on the other. I just found out that was after a fresh rebuild so I'm not sure what's going on. I told him he has to take the compression when the engine is warm so I'm not sure if they did this or not.

On my 98 with a thin head gasket it was at 140.
But before you go too crazy, make sure that the gauge is working properly. I too was alarmed to see my sled and boat both lost compression, only to find out that the gauge was screwed up.

For what it's worth my '97 600 with the motor cold and the thin head gasket (.8mm gasket from Maxx actually) pulls ~122 on both cylinders.

The numbers don't mean much unless they are real low. The bigger issue is that they are nearly the same. Your 110/105 is a difference enough that I would look into further. If it was 140/135 it might not be a big deal. The leakdown test is your real tell.

How does the sled run? If the rings and pistons are new how are the cylinders? Is there a new head gasket on it and was it sprayed and torqued correctly?
