I just got back from the Western UP yesterday. I put on around 430 miles, but did alot of playing around, climbing hills, powerlines and lake running. Again my 2002 Viper ran flawless. It corners like a slot car and keeps up with anything on the trails. This is the thing that really blew me away this past Wednesday. Here we are cruising along lake Gogebic to go eat lunch at the Fisherman Lodge. The lake was in good shape but was relatively quiet as far as traffic. I was around 3/4 throttle messing around with another stock Viper in my group (speedo at aprrox. 90mph) when out of nowhere appears this black Doo along side of me. At first I thought it was one our guys in our group who just bought a new 600sdi GSX Rev. The guy nodded for me to punch it and darted out 2 lengths in front of me. So I punched it too. I then looked over at his side panel only to realize it was an all black Mach Z 1000. We just froze. I held it for about two miles and actually started creeping up on him. Next thing I know I was within a half a ski of going by him. Then out of the corner of my eye I see a green ski loop almost at my ski flap. Where did this guy come from?? Here it was a Cat trying to get by me but he never did. When we finally let off I saw the Cat was with the Doo. It was a ZR900!!! ??? I was totally laughing in my helmet. These guys turned around and stopped to talk with us. The guys wanted to line up and drag race. I said mines all stock ,you need to race our fast Viper. One of my buddies that was laying back behind us on the lake bought Madmatt's (TY member) 780 BB by MrViper700 with a 1.5" 136 kit on it. So the 900 Cat, the Mach Z, the BB 780, myself and the new ATTAK in our group lines up with them with a guy flagging. The 780 and the ATTAK flat out dusted them and my Viper held them off well over 1000'. They did pull by me by two to three lengths past the 100mph mark but what the heck. I gave them a heck of a race. Later when we were in the Fisherman eating those guys kept circling around our sleds looking at them parked outside. LOL!! Later when we went back out on the lake, another brand new 2007 Mach immediately wanted to race. The Mach owners must have a bully complex or something. Again the BB 780 and the ATTAK smoked the new Mach bad. Boy those things must need alot of work to get them going, I sure was not impressed with the ones I saw. Needless to say, I cannot complain one bit about the performance of my stock Viper. I sure must have got a good one. The guys in my group can't believe how strong it is. Yes, it flat out leaves the other stocker in the group.
Another intersting note. We later went to the Hoop n' Hollar and we saw a yellow and black Git R' Done kit Apex go by onto the lake. We followed it out on the lake and talked with him for quite awhile. I have to admit, it is totally trick looking. It said 2 of 5 right on the front end. It has the fuel accelerater setup, an airbox mod that makes the exhaust sound awesome and clutching. The guy was from Chicago. He was lost and trying to find Lake Gogebic. I laughed and said you are standing on it. He asked how to find Bergland, so I said follow us, we are going back that way. So he did and ends up punching next to me. Yes he surged me by about 5-6 lenghts then froze. In the meantime out ATTAK blew by him and that one is bone stock with 500 miles on it. The Git R' Done kit looks cool, but I think I'd do the mods myself. It didn't look so impressive considering what he payed for it.

Sounds like you had a good time. I got one of the slow hard on fuel vipers.... I feel cheated.

That's the other thing I noticed. The other stocker in our group used more fuel. If I took 5.5 gallons , he'd take 7.2 gallons with the same miles and he lays back more in the group. I tend to ride harder up front ,so I should use more than him.........go figure.
Yeeeeehaaaa
Good to hear my old sled is still kicking butt!!!!!! Go Snowseeker!!!! Hey, call me, I've got a much better lake clutch set up then what you are running!!!
Awesome

He's very happy with it. It ran flawless all week. It get's pretty darn good mileage too. He put on a 1.5 " lug track though. The racepak light flashed occasionally for over rev, etc. but nothing major. I set the helix down to 60 deg. for him. He had a bit of an over rev at first. He's traveling home today. I'll tell him to get ahold of you.

That's right, I do recall him mentioning MRVIPER700. Thanks for the correction.

I changed the name
Overrev
That has a 55-136 primary spring in it. Sometimes depending on conditions the engagement is a little high and you just cant hook it up and it will overrev briefly. One thing that worked for me in those conditions was a G-W-G spring 45-136. The lower engagement will give him a better opportunity to hook up and get some momentum going before that explosion of power. That set-up I put in there is about the best all around set up I could come up with......but it's a little better w/ a G-W-G. Sorry Mike but I had only one G-W-G spring and I didn't want to let it go.......I had two of what's in it. But for drag racing I have a 8DN-20 set up that rocks.......but the backshift is not too good.

I'll tell Mike about this info. I am going to resize some photos and I'll drop them on here later. What's the best pixel size (what x what) for this site?

Good show.I ran radar runs on a lake here a couple of years ago and came 2nd to a ZR900,just 2km,s slower.Behind me was a TCat and Polaris with a big 730 bore kit.
I was runnig a Bender helix with stock motor.I was happy with that.

Sounds like my Viper. I have run on Gogebic also, and can cruise at 90mph or so and punch it, and it flat out accelerates. I've got an 1"1/4 sno-x style track on it so I don't expect much but I get 108mph topped out on the GPS. The Poo Poo 600 I ride with will only do 95mph or so, man I love leavin him in the snow dust!
