The Viper still impresses..........

I also have a 1.25" 9818 Predator track unstudded. That day I was seeing 115mph on the speedometer. I didn't have a GPS available, but last year I was only seeing 109mph and the GPS said 102 mph on the same lake. The first season I ran the stock track w/out studs and saw 125mph on the speedo.(tailwind) The ATTAK we had with us was seeing 120mph that same day we ran the Mach's. The dealer in Greenland said for some reason the ATTAKs usually run better speeds out there box stock. Probably the longer track hooks better and they are geared down a bit. I think he wants to clutch the ATTAK. I suggested Ulmer's kit. He's not real mechanical, so I said I'd set it up for him.

Ahmen on the viper buddy, i love mine, compared to my old zr's it handles like its on rails, and no ski lift!

Engine is just as smooth, and very quick! I love it!

Yahadriver ,is that your Viper in your Avatar? I'd love to find some Ohlin shocks for the front suspension........or even the rear skid. That would really complete the sled. I think I've come to one for sure conclusion. If you pipe a Viper, the BB kit is also a better idea. I had CPR pipes on for about a month or so in during the 2004 season. It sucked fuel like crazy (about double) and was very tempermental to temp. changes. The BB 780 in our group had none of the above issues. When I'd take 5.5 gallons, he'd take 5.9 gallons. I remember talking about this subject with Ulmer (srxspec) and he said for some reason the BB Vipers are more reliable and run better than one with just pipes. :letitsnow

No sry thats not my sled, damn wish it was though! I just have relalved and rebuilt all my shocks and now rides better then my zr ever did, so im pretty happy

J-man, how do you like that track?I have a ripsaw now, but am thinking of going to 136" and possibly that style track. The ripsaw is great on packed snow and general trail riding, but not very good in loose snow.I am not running studs either and was curious about your experiences, have you rode a sled with a ripsaw?

Swede i am running the 9833 (fully clipped 9818 1.25" predator six pitch) and have a 136" ripsaw on the 04 warrior. I personally think the predator is a better track. The predator seems to perform just as good in all conditions ony my SX as the ripsaw on the warrior... and the longer track lentgh should hook up more you would think... Better traction on the trail with the 9833 IMO and MUCH better in the fluffy snow. I bought my 2000 SRX with the stock track studded and it SUCKS in the fluffy stuff lol... but i do love the feeling of a good hookup on hardpack.

I think the only factor that could help defend the ripsaw against the 9833 in this situation is the warrior is heavier... but i still think the six pitch is a superior track for all around riding.

The 9818 works great in varying conditions. I thought about a Ripsaw until I found out it wasn't as good in the powder.

just got back from presque isle, we also did some drags on gogebic. trail 13, and all the way back to the bear bar it was freshly groomed, this was at about 8:00 saturday night. you didnt happen to hit up the hillclimb in wakefield did ya? thats always a blast.

We rode to Wakefiled this past Wednesday, same day we were on the lake. We just rode across the lake to the gas station ,filled up and headed back north again. Normally we don't ride that far south. Once we got back towards Gogebic, we split the group and half of us went back out on the lake for some fun.

That is good to hear, Don just rebuilt my sled and I still haven't tried it out alot. But what I have rode it, it ran like a raped ape. Don does excellent work as far as I can tell and a super nice guy!

1998srx

I to ride with this group, thou it's been a few years because of money.
I don't know what it is about this group of riders, but we do have some
of the fastest sleds on lake gogebic. I rode arctic cat for years and tried
to race the fastest srx, at that the time, with a zrt No LUCK. I ended up
selling the cat and buying the 1998 srx. I must say, I should've saved my
money and listened to the guys in my group. I'm already looking forward
for next year so I too can race, and win, racing on gogebic

Sounds like mine too . Whats the build date ? Mine was Sept 01 and it runs like yours , fully stock too with 28,000km on it . My buddy has one built July 01 and it seems a little slower . Maybe they were taking longer lunches in July , LOL......
;):D

I'm doing well, the srx is rockin'. I hear you're going up north soon, when and
where. it would be great to hookup

Headin' up to northern Wisc. Friday with the two old friends from our Mid America drag racing days. One has a cabin by Vahalla. It'll be a little cold, hopefully everthing goes well. I'll be outnumbered by Polaris's this time.

The 780 Vipers, when setup correctly, are less tempermental than the stock motor piped Vipers! Some stock Vipers are stronger than others (seen variances on the dyno from 128 hp to 118 hp with jetting, etc all the same).

350 miles on 2007 Phazer FX and 2007 Apex RTX and about 200 miles on 2007 Mtn Vector. We actually have good snow right now, just too blasted cold! The average temp the last 30 days has been 0.3*F! BBBBBrrrrrrrrr!!!! I'm hoping to head to the UP sometime in the end of February or beginning of March.

Well I just got back from northern Wisconsin. Got close to 200 miles. I had a brand new 2006 conFUSION 600 riding with me. He wanted to run me. Let's just say it was a really bad day on his behalf. I think the sled magazines were full of it on that thing. I was not impressed with it's get up and go at all. They do ride nice though. Last night I saw almost 120mph on the speedo........
