What do you guys do, Straight Anti-freeze or Mixture??? If mixture what ratio water to anti-freeze do you run???

50/50 anything else is too corrosive - straight anti-freeze will not give you the best protection.

Straight anti freeze will do hardly anything in terms of cooling.

Anti freeze isn't what cools down your engine, the water does, anti freeze just does it job, prevents the water from freezing.

For max cooling running just water is the best, but you can't do that in the winter or it will freeze. However in the summer, running straight water is alright, because you dont have to worry about it freezing up

Daman is RIGHT!!! 60 anti freeze and 40 Deionized water.. The deionized water has a LOT FEWER minerals. The minerals contribute to dissimiliar metal corrosion!!!! Distilled also works fine.. You can go to murrays and buy PEAK water.. it is made for batteries and anti freeze where regular tap or well water will destroy your cooling system!!! ESPECIALLY WELL WATER!!!!

STRAIGHT water without water wetter or some deionizer is just INSANE!!! straight water does not have nearly the heat transfer capacity of running 50-50 mix with ETHYLENE GLYCOL!!! The ETHYLENE GLYCOL retains heat WAY BETTER than straight water will... Come to the dragstrip with me on a hot summer day and I will prove it to you!!!

I use purified drinking(reversosmoses, spell?) water very clean stuff,

thats true but...strait water is hard on your water pump and starts
to rust your system over time, and reduces boiling point

Yea theres noway in he** I'd run straight water in my dirt bike. Just for the simple fact of running in 90 degree temps and playing in sand all at the same time. She gets REAL HOT at times when doin constant uphill drags even with the 50/50 Honda Coolant I use.

Back from my days as a technical advisor for summit racing equipement we got to have a little schooling technical seminar with some hands on testing. Was on anti freeze and water on a cooling system. now this was for cars and not freezing temps like snowmobiles but you can read for yourself the cooling effects of water over glycol. On a snowmobile I would run the reccomend 50/50 or 60/40 anti freeze/water ratio, with a bottle of this in it. This is some neat material to read and it definitely works, I have had it in my asphalt sleds and my grass, snow sleds.

check it out, read the tech information:

Yes i know of the stuff, some say it works some say they see no drop
in temps at all,if nothing else a rise.

RP also makes that stuff

Yea I have a bottle of that to run in my sled. But how do I go about mixing this into the Anti-freeze : Water ratio???? Just get my 60/40 mixture and then dump a WHOLE bottle of Water wetter in it??? Just doesnt seem right dumping a whole bottle in it. But whatever you say Don I'll do.

I suppose you want me to tell you the chemical makeup of WATER WETTER!!! Well,,, let me say ,,, WATER WETTER will provide ASTRONOMICAL results on ANY TYPE of cooling system wheather it be STRAIGHT water or a 50-50 or 60-40 mix of ETHYLENE GLYCOL anti freeze!!! There is a product called royal purple???? that works the same way as water wetter does... Whichever you choose, royal purple (about 17.00 a bottle) or water wetter (about 6.00 a bottle) you will probably get the same results... RACECARS have to run WATER ONLY and if TECH finds out that you are running antifreeze,,,,YOU LOSE!!!! Without getting into a BIG DIsCUSSION about glycols and mineral solidification,,,lets just say that running straight antifreeze or straight water is WAY WORSE for your cooling system than running a 50-50 or 60-40 mix!!!!! ANTIFREEZe is MADE to be mixed with water.. STRAIGHT anti freeze will turn into the consistency of VASOLINE when its ZERO outside!!! Try pumping that through your heat exchangers!!!!

Well from Dons experienced use and Garys SCHOOLED knowledge on chemical make-up of products such as these, I'm gunna run it. Not like its goin to hurt anything and I already have it in my hand to use so I'm gunna try it out. But like Daman said dont start a big fight over all of this. I hate when I start a thread looking for help and they turn into fights, it kinda makes me feel like the *** even though I was only looking for help.
