Yes that was just MO and $.02....ExpertXViper said:Well from Dons experienced use and Garys SCHOOLED knowledge on chemical make-up of products such as these, I'm gunna run it. Not like its goin to hurt anything and I already have it in my hand to use so I'm gunna try it out. But like Daman said dont start a big fight over all of this. I hate when I start a thread looking for help and they turn into fights and kinda makes me feel like the *** even though I was only looking for help.

I would never run straight water, however i was just saying it will cool better then straight anti freeze.
Don't forget, if your gona buy anti freeze, and you see the 50/50 is a buck cheaper then the straight anti freeze, remember your paying for 50% water!

when using STRAIGHT water, the hot spots inside your engine create surface tension (little bubbles) and the little bubbles then turn into BIG BUBBLES creating cavitation and "air pockets" throughout your cooling system.. if your thermostat gets ahold of one of those air bubbles, it WONT OPEN and the water will EXPAND right out your radiator cap... The next time you run your motor, your coolant level will be low... Time after time of run cycles will vaporize more water and create more bubbles and more releasing from your cooling system... WATER is a REAL BAD IDEA in a cooling system!!! not to mention the oxidation and corrosion created by the minerals in WATER!!!! Does it cool better than an anti freeze mix.. IN THEORY, it MAY dissapate better initially,,,but,,in the long run,,, NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!!

NOSBOY is correct. The mixture has better heat transfer characteristics than straight water. Plus the mixture has much better corrosion inhibitors etc. The 60/40 mixture has a lower freezing point than 50/50 which might be valuable in the contect of Snowmobiling!!!
BUT 50/50 is easy to mix.

Well said nosboy, didn't know if would cause a lot of dispute!
some guys know about clutching ( I DO NOT!!!), some guys know about motors, some guys know fuel systems, some guys know weight transfer and suspension. Some guys think they know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING!!!! Its easy to fight with a guy who knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING!!!! I still use BALL HONES on nikasil cylinder walls, so apparently I am not too bright when it comes to cylinder honing!!!! BUT,, I SWEAR by ball hones!!!!I know a little bit about oils and fuels and chemicals,,,so,,,take it with a grain of salt... if I piss you off once in a while,,it's because it pisses me off!!! And it's allright to be pissed off once in a while!!!!
Theres an author and I think his name was Richard Bock... he once said ,"You teach best what you MOST need to learn".....

My grade eight shops teacher had a saying:
"The more you know, the more you know you know NOTHING".
This is a pure truth. None of us are beyond the point of learning. It's important to never forget that.
That's whay this forum is so great. It's like the "Borg Collective" of Yamaha knowledge!!! Engage!!!
