my 01 srx has been running bad for the last two rides. I think i figured out the problem today though. i could not get over 95mph but today i realized that the choke cable nut came loose. after i figured this out i started it and i knew it sounded better already. i rode all day everything was good but my lights, tach, rear taillight started to go on and off only on high beam. when i got home i let it run and it shutoff by itself. now it will not start. there is no spark at all. i checked for the obvious but found nothing. any advice would help. thanks alot

i think it is probably the cdi box but i don't know if has anything to do with the lights going on and off maybe that is another problem.

Mine acted up before like that. The machine would start fine, but on really cold days it would take a minute or more for me to get a headlight, tach, and tailight. I posted the problem on here and mrviper had told me that it was the load control relay located on the left footwell, right near where your belt guard clips on. Try taking it off and putting it on the heat register to dry it out. I dont know if this would cause the motor to have no spark though..... i dont know if thats the same problem all causes by the one thing or 2 seperate issues.

thanks alot i will try it anyways and let you know. Is it the two plugs that slide on and off a little rail. do you remeber the wire colors. thanks again.

I unplugged them and the sled had spark but no lights, so while it was running I plugged them back in and it worked. I brought them inside just incase they were froze. Thanks again!!!

now when i hit the swithch for high beams i have no lights at all or the tach does not work. on low beams the tach jumps. once the engine is reving the tach works fine. also my fuel gauge does not work.

Wires that run under motor may be cut. Common problem on these sleds. Disconnect the wires from the harness, wrap a coat hanger or something similar around the wire before pulling the wires out from under the motor. Fix the wires, wrap them in tape or wire loom. Now use that coat hanger to fish the wires back under the motor, connect to harness. Done.

i just tried it and when i pinn it with high beams on the sled bogs and almost dies. with low beams it is alright. weird.

my srx did the same thing and it was the wiring under the motor. Make sure to use solder if u find breaks or rubs . And also some good heat shrink and re tape and then use the plastic tubing.

So i found the problem and it was the harness under neath the engine. The wires were melted together i have no clue how anything worked.
