viper broken speedo please help!!

ok so on a ride last week my wires rubbed on my oil line and my dash wouldnt work at all, so i fixed the wires.

the dash works perfect everything works great exept my speedo stays at zero.

has this happed to anyone before. Im thinking the digital reciving unit thingy, is broken. (the thing that reeds the jackshaft).

has this happened to anyone before, im hoping that when my wires rubbed they didnt ground out and mess my dash.

help any idea helps, ive checked all the wire harnes and its fine.

everything apears to be ok pulled out the wire harness and its fine.

everything but speedo and odometer works. I was hoping to get more feed back on this.

It just shows zero

you may have shorted it out, do a ohm test on it and post what it is, I have one here I can check for you to compare to. Follow the wiring from it up to the dash, it wouldnt be a bad idea to do a continuity check on the wires from the sensor up to the speedo, to make sure you dont have a broken wire/circuit.

im gona give that a try i will pull the harness out and the dash bring it to work and get one of the avionics guys to tear through it, as im not that electrical inteligent. im hoping for a broken wire. but when my wires rubbed through it would work on and off then it would show random numbers. sucks i hop ei dont need to buy a new dash.

thanks alot for the reply.

check the p/u sensor down below is what I was referring to, start at source then work your way up to the unit.

i guess the speedo its not like srx ??
srx have cable and went the bearing **** up on the main track shaft well no chance speedo stop working but i'm not sure about those viper

yep totally different.

ok checked the wires from the dash to the first connection by yout left foot well. My multimeter picks up continuity in all 3 wires, so wires seem to be ok. and ground is good. so took the dash off, how do i check the dash, also how do i check if the p/u sensor works.

so how do i do an ohm test

where is the sensor for the speedo i guess it work like a abs speed sensor

Yes, it works like a abs sensor. Its located under the clutch beside the driveshaft

so just take your ohm meter and check it in alternative current ... you will see u have have your reading ni there

so i disconected the sensor form the harness then ran a wire to link the ground. then checked the sensor at idle, the orange wire gives me 208 ohms, when i run the trak it stays 208ohms.

now when i run the multimeter between the pink wire there is no ohms and when i run the track it stays no ohms.

so does this meen my sensor is cooked.

the dash stays at zero and nothing changes whetheir the sensor is conected or not.

no take your voltmeter set it to acv and take the two wire at the sensor and run the track more you will rave more the voltage will raise ..its a induction sensor
