Well I took the GF out for a ride this weekend, man the trails are in Bad conditions around home, and that Vmax XT isn't much of a 2up sled. My backs killing me..lol Just as we got on the lake headed to the camp to visit some people, and my Exhaust gave way, and I now have a hole about the size of a loonie in the collector pipe (Y pipe from the Engine to the Main Exhaust) Let me tell you My ears are still ringing as I had to ride another 1.5 hrs back home like that

Brought the sled down with me, And just ordered some new parts.

Inventory:

- Speedo Joint (finally going to get around to attempt to fix the speedo)
- New Y pipe for the Exhuast and a new exhaust spring
- have new Gaskets already
- New Carabides (also need to patch up one ski, and shim them both)

That and I'm going to attempt to fix the running board, as there is a crack in it, my Bro welds alot, so I'm bring it by his shop, and We're going to fix that up this week as well. Need to bang it straight, and weld it up, probably also need to take the Rad off the bottom so the heat doesn't damage it. I seen somewhere another Member put a 1/2" Aluminum Rod inside the running board, on the outside edge, where it curls, Seems like a good idea, I will probably do that, and drill some holes in the underside and tac the rod in there for good.

I hope all the repairs go smoothly, I'll probably be posting up for some advice along the way. Wish my Digi cam was working I could post up some pics along the way. Hoping its back in tip top shape for this weekend, hoping to get some miles in :letitsnow

I just finished repairing my sled on Saturday. I had to weld a 6 inch crack in the running board right under the foot well area.
Me and a buddy of mine pressed out the dent and then he aluminum welded it back together for me. He did an awesome job with the weld. It had a 6 inch crack.
It was allot of work (I now hate rivets...lol) but just take your time and I'm sure you will get it fixed and back on the trails by the weekend.
Good luck

Yah thats pretty much the size of the crack I have as well, right where the Trailing arm bolts up. So need to bang it straight, weld it, and strengthen so it won't happen again. I'm sure I will be good for the weekend, as long as the parts come in when they are suppose to.

I'm sure I'll hate Rivots by the end of the week as well..lol...Hmm that brings to mind a good question...Steel or Aluminum rivets? and what size are best?

Well Just thought I'd post up an update.

- Exhaust is fixed...Ahh its nice to hear yourself think when riding now!
- Ski's are Patched up and Shimmed, will have to test how it rides this week

Now the Floorboard was the hardest, we banged it all straight, and welded it nicely. Put a 1/2" rod in there, and tac'd it in there. We then drilled all the rivets out that hold the Plate on, and replaced those with Bolts and large washers. Repainted it with the Truck bed liner spray, and its ready to roll!

Only issue was the Speedo, I took the old Joint out, it was twisted some...but still intact, put the new one in, and I don't think its working. I didn't go far, just out of the garage, but didn't see it move from that. So I'm not sure if its the cable or what else could be the issue...??

Now bring on the trails this weekend, I'm good to go
